Just when I think I've seen it all...

So I went to Walmart this morning and I was walking by I saw something that made me really wonder - a pet stroller!!!!

Forgive me all you pet lovers as I am not really a pet person at all, but I just burst out laughing right there. I just thought it was quite odd.

Do people really use these? It's the first I've ever seen one. :confused3

I have never heard of anything like this before in my life. There is no way I would be able to make one of my cats sit in a stroller. It would be clawed up into pieces. :rotfl2:

Maybe not. It looks like a pet carrier but with wheels and a handle just like a baby stroller. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has never heard of this. Like I said, it was at Walmart so maybe it's popular?

I saw those at Petco! I can't imagine taking a dog or cat in one. :rotfl2:

I can see taking a bigger bird in one, though. They make carriers, similar to baby carriers for birds that you can carry on your back or chest. I'd do that if I had a big bird. My little birdy likes going in her carrier cage, so I imagine a big bird would too. :goodvibes

Got a pic? I guess it's made for young/old cats/dogs that can't go long distances when you're going on a long walk...

From the ad:

It is perfect for pets with joint ailments or older pets that can't walk unaccompanied.

I think it's a good idea for animals with health problems and maybe...um...more mature...owners.

I can't imagine my Nikki would like being put in one of these for a walk, but she's young and healthy. I'd feel plain silly wheeling her around, too!

I've never seen one in real life, but I've seen them in pet catalogs that we get.

Oh wow, check this out! http://www.justpetstrollers.com/

Who knew there was so much selection!

I just can't help wondering how big the market is for something like this.

When I take the dog for a walk, it's so the dog gets exercise. And...um....other stuff ;)

Laurie :)

these are the most ridiculous things I have ever seen!! Why would you want to put your pet in a stroller and push it around like that?? Like Laurie said ~ taking your pet for a walk is for just that...walking!! (and the other stuff too ;) )

Had a lady walking her dog in one in my store about a month ago. It made me scratch my head. "Oh what a cute...doggie?"

I always thought they were ridiculous until I moved to FL & acquired two cats - now I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea if we have to do a hurricane evacuation.

They probably also come in handy for people that show their cats.

Denise < --- would probably be more likely to harness 'em to a wagon & have them pull ME around. :rotfl:

A friend of mine has this one and they use it when at art shows and going for long walks, the dog is tiny and can't walk too far.

what I don't get is why do people bring their pets to the store and other places with them? I don't have any pets now, but always had at least a dog or cat growing up and we never brought them any where except to the vet :confused3

I've actually thought about buying one for our cats, but they're so darn expensive!

I guess it would look a little funny, but I can imagine the cats might like to get some fresh air once in a while and at least mine wanted no part of a leash!

I actually do think I'm going to get one of those Kittywalk enclosures for them. I can stake it right into the ground and let them enjoy the outdoors safely!

These are funny. I remember struggling with a stroller when my son needed one, I'm sure not going to do it with my cats!

We were in Baltimore at the Inner Harbour and saw some people walking their dogs in a pet stroller. It was a bit strange, but the dogs didn't seem to mind.

Cepmom..I used to wonder the same thing. When I worked at the mall, people would bring their small dogs and sometimes other animals in with them. It made me go kind of  :scared: :scratchin

They are called HOUSE pets for a reason. Unless they are a service animal or you are taking them someplace where pets are allowed (like PetSmart or the vet or the park or whatever),they stay AT HOME.

Once,a girl came up to my counter with a rather large bunny rabbit in her arms. I looked at the rabbit and went "Oh how cute..I bet he'd taste really good in a stew!" :rotfl2: Needless to say,the girl was not as amused as I was.

There is a guy in my neighborhood that brings his dogs to the park in a pet trailer hitched to his bike. His chihuahua and collie sit in it and they are zipped in to a mesh cage. He said he got it because the collie can't keep up with the chihuahua when he tries to walk them. :rotfl:

Where we used to live in Memphis there was a woman who would "walk" her dog in a stroller. Not a specific pet stroller an actual kid stroller! It was like a yorkie or something that would sit in the stroller while she walked. We once asked her and she said he liked to be outside but he was old and couldn't really walk well anymore.
