Just Watched the Shuttle launch from OKW

Did any of you see the International Space Station pass overhead from south to north just 15 minutes before the launch?
I knew it was going to pass overhead and I had seen it before from my home in Chicago, but this time the space station was so bright and it was so bright for so long.

Boy is your timing good! Hope to catch one of the few left - how sad to think that there won't be anymore.

My parents used to live on Merritt Island, and one time we took our boat up as close to the Cape as you could get in the Banana River for a night launch.

When you are up close, it is literally as if someone turned the sun on and started beating on your chest with a sledgehammer at the same time!

Not the sound, but the pressure of the sound waves, is actually uncomfortable. Awesome experience!

Ooh, my DH will be SO jealous when I tell him! We'll sadly never have the opportunity; our next trip isn't until 10/2. Whoever sees the next one, give a cheer for us!

I am sure that was something to be seen. We have got a few ourselves over the years and we were lucky enough to go over to the coast for one launch.

The sound waves made it to OKW several minutes after the ship had faded from sight. It sounded like a low frequency roll of thunder, but lasted a couple of minutes.

CRT was great - besides the photo op with Cinderella, the girls got photos at our table with Snow White, Aurora, Belle and Jasmine. They were thrilled - especially the youngest who turns 4 on Thursday! The older girls are 7 and almost 9 - and on their 4th WDW trip!

The weather has been wonderful - another day in the mid-80s with more predicted the rest of the week. After the CRT lunch we took a break and then went to AK from 4:30 - 10:00 (they had EMH tonight). Another great day.

Tomorrow we're off to DHS in the morning followed by HDD and then MK in the evening.

Here's hoping the May launch is on time for those that are scheduled to be there. BUT if its not please delay it about 15 days so we get to see it before we leave on our cruise. I know its selfish but I did start it out positive!

It was a spectacular launch with the exhaust plume looking very regal in its wake. We watched it from our lanai at home. It was still in sight over 600 hundred miles down range and 60 some miles altitude. Could even feel the tremors from the ascent.

OKW is one of my favorite places to watch the shuttle launch. We've seen a few from there, but never a night launch. Must be cool to see.

At OKW now myself. We enjoyed the shuttle launch and the gorgeous weather. In town till Fri morning and then home again. As always OKW is beautiful and relaxing, love it.
