Happy Administrative Professionals Day!!!!!! :wave2:

What did your office/boss get you???

Melinda

Thanks! So far It's been a great day - got flowers, gift certificate (yey! this will go for Disney Dollars), snacks and someone even gave me a vintage Disney album - the soundtrack for Snow White and the seven dwarfs. It looks old and has pictures from the movie on the album. We'll be going out for lunch also! :D

Nothing!!!!! Absolutely nothing. I work for 2 attorneys, do all the office work/paralegal work/administrative work and will get absolutely NOTHING from either of them. They probably won't even know what day it is - they NEVER do.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day (or whatever they are calling it now) to everyone out there!!!!!!!!!

I got a nice card, which was WAY more than I expected. We don't celebrate Admin Prof Day or Boss Day here. Fine with me cause I'd be the one to come up with something for our boss.

 This happened to me last year LOL I feel your pain. Hence the reason why I'm back at school! ;) J/K
That happened when I worked at the acct firm. I honestly think they just forgot with it being around tax season and all. The previous two years they got me a bunch of flowers and a GC for dinner.

Actually in a previous job when I worked for 14 attorneys that was the best job ever. They were a good group!!

Same here, nothing.:charac2:

Except, my boss is going to be gone until May 6
He is going to Ireland with his parents and I saw on his expense sheet, he wrote it off as an educational expense. (Visiting St. Kevin's), I thought people went there for St. Patrick.

(I really shouldn't say that he is a Priest), but I will. I've been doing this job for 16 years and I worked for many of priest and some are so kind-hearted and some aren't.

I asked my boss when his plane leaves, (in case I hear of one crashing) and he told me, "it was none of my business, I didn't need to know". I left work yesterday and didn't even say have a good vacation. I do a professional job, and I use to tell him little tid bits about my family but not any more.

And finding this thread Administrative Day (Secretary's Day), sorry, that is what it used to be called, it just nullified my belief, the guy is a jerk.

I received beautiful roses and will be heading off for a nice lunch shortly.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day everyone!!!

Thanks. Same to you and all of the other Administrative Professionals.

I have yet to be acknowledged. Last year the excuse was that I am much more than an assistant, which is true, but my job title is Executive Assistant/Office Manager. I'm sure the day will pass with no acknowledgement. I'll live, lol.

Well nothing. We did have an "office luncheon" yesterday. At this office they like to do something fun like going for lunch, we took a museum tour a few months ago. Have a happy, happy day, professionals!

thank you!

my office got me flowers and a card and we all had lunch brought in to the office so we could enjoy it together...

it's nice to feel appreciated!

Oh, my goodness, I'm just so lucky! I'm the Lead Support (which is basically an office manager) for an academic department at a community college. I have 2 part-time staff and 2 student employees who work for me and we assist a department of about 75 full and part-time faculty and two administrators.

I came in this morning to find two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts that an instructor had left for us. We've gotten 2 bouqets of flowers, a box of candy, treats, a gift certificate to a place that makes this excellent homemade bread & cookies, a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, cards from everyone. And, it's only noon!

I also gave my staff thank you cards and plants from me.

I really love my job--working with the instructors and students is very rewarding. Everyone is just so appreciative -- and not just today -- this kind of thing happens at least once a week. It's just SO nice to have hard work appreciated. And, I think it makes my staff and I work so much harder and try to be more helpful. So, it's a win-win situation for all of us.

Happy Administrative Professional Day!

My boss and I are attending the Pro Bono luncheon today in Boulder at the Boulderado. We do this every year for Administrative Assitant's Day. I get a chance to meet other assistants and attorneys that I talk to on the phone every day. Then she gives me the aftenoon off.

This lunchoen is extra special because my attorney is recieving the top Pro Bono atty award from the Bar association. It's a real honor, and I am so proud of her. I keep telling myself I helped her get this award. Makes an extra special AA day!

I am the Business Manager/Bookkeeper for a school district and our Superintendent is taking all the secretaries, myself and our office volunteer out to a Japanese steakhouse for dinner this evening.

I work for 10 attorneys. One of them gave me a card and is taking me to lunch on Friday anywhere I want. She's such a nice person.

Haven't heard anything from anyone else I work for!

Not a thing!! I work for 2 attorneys and didn't even get a verbal acknowledgement! We are having a firm appreciation lunch tomorrow for the whole office, but my attorneys haven't done anything for the past 2 or 3 years. At least give me a card for goodness sakes!!! :teeth:

Well - I came back from running deposits to the bank and there is this huge basket with a beautiful Hydranga in it on my desk. I love getting potted plants - now I can plant it outside and enjoy it for a long time.

I have the best boss - so great that my DH works here now (and loves it too)!!!!!

Have a great day all you administrative professionals!!!! And the ones that don't get any recognition - here's some hugs - it is just nice to be appreciated, I hope you get a great boss too someday - it took me years to find mine!!!

I feel your pain. I too didn't even get a verbal acknowledgement and the bad thing is that this is a small office only me and the two attorneys. I do EVERYTHING! I certainly THINK I deserve at least a verbal acknowledgement. Don't know why I'm so surprised: they haven't done anything in the last 3 years either.

I'm so sorry! At least we get food tomorrow for the entire office so that is something. We have around 100 attorneys. I saw some very pretty things that other secretaries received!! Do your attorneys forget your birthday too? Mine do!!!

Oh yea, no birthday, I don't think they even know when it is. No Christmas bonuses, no raises, I don't even get to take all my alloted vacation time each year because I'm the only support person here. The only good thing besides I like what I actually do (patents and trademarks) is that I work 10 minutes from home (don't have to go downtown anymore) and I can wear jeans, etc., don't have to dress up. I've been thinking lately that it's time to move on. I really don't feel appreciated here and never have.

I didn't even know it was Administrative Professionals Day/Week until yesterday when an office wide email went out that they were throwing us a pizza party today. :teeth:
It was fun!

And on Friday we are having an ice cream social. :teeth: :teeth:

One of the people I work for also got me a really nice card and a $25 gc for Macy's. It was a nice surprise!!
