Just want to vent..............

Please heed this as a warning when shopping on ebay.
I purchased an item from ebay ( An entertainment unit).
Unfortunatly we discovered that the goods were badly damaged once they were unpacked.
Of course I contacted the seller at once to inform him, but he denied the goods were sold damaged and refused to help me any further. I had paid him extra to insure the goods.
I also filed a claim against him with my credit card company and paypal.
Unfortunatly the situation is now that he has been given his money from paypal and unless I can send the goods back to the merchant I will have the charge put back on my credit card. The unit wieghs nearly 200 lbs and no shipping company will accept the goods for shipment as they are damaged. Also the quotes to send the goods are $450.00 +
I am at my wits end I cannot sleep,please all of you watch out for these people on the internet,do not get caught out like I did.
If anyone can give me any advice I would be grateful as I cannot afford to lose $900.00.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have no legal advice for you. I just know from experience that I have NEVER received a furniture shipment, even from an expensive furniture store, and not had something wrong. But I've always bought from reputable places and I've had replacement pieces brought out to me quickly. That goes for a $200 Sauder entertainment center to a $3000 dining room table.

Good luck, and I'm sorry...I'd be heartbroken too. In my opinion, ebay is for buying baseball cards and lost china pieces...not huge furniture or big ticket electronics. There's a reason it's such a bargain.

Did you check with Greyhound?? They do ship frieght and they were cheaper than UPS when I had a large item shipped.
