Just want to vent about needing reservations for everything

The trick is to eat at the bigger places for lunch instead of dinner, we hardly even ever had wait time. .

That's a good trick....I do it with Coral Reef.

But at the Ploy and Animal Kingdom lodge...their top resurants don't offer lunch

I just wanted to say, that a few years ago my parents and I went to Disney, and we did not have one ADR. Well I take that back, my parents made one for themselves at Shula's (sp?) at the Dolphin. Other than that, we didnt. We ate at the Japanese place, the sci-fi, rainforest cafe Planet Hollywood and those are just the ones that I can remember, and a few other nice places. The trick is to eat at the bigger places for lunch instead of dinner, we hardly even ever had wait time. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but we went in early May.

I will make some for this trip we are planning in May, but mostly just for anniversary dinner.

The problem is that even lunch is completely booked for many of the restaurants during the busy season... so unless you are traveling during the low season, you can be stuck without a place to eat.

I am a long-time AP holder and live in Tampa, so we have made many, many spur of the moment trips over the years. Even up until a year or 2 ago, I could call and get same day reservations for many of the more popular places. Now, unless I want to trek over to Trails End (which ALWAYS seems to have open reservations), there's no telling if I am going to get a TS meal. It can make for a really frustrating day trip.

We made the HUGE mistake of going over for a day during the free dining period this year. We were at Epcot and the park was unusually empty (as in 10 minute wait for Soarin' empty), yet there wasn't a single table service meal to be had during lunch or dinner in the ENTIRE park (or the ENTIRE resort, for that matter... not even Trails End). I feel for the people from out of town who really plan every single minute of their vacation, but it really sucks for people like me who like to wake up on a Saturday and decide to use my annual pass to have some fun.
