just want to reassure myself that I got this right...FP+

When we have a DVC resort reservation we will get the ability to book some FP+ about 30 days out from our trip regardless of having bought tickets yet??

and if we buy AP in advance doesn't help.

do I have this right? thanks

Unless things have changed recently, no, that's not right.

• You need tickets attached to your MDEx account to make FP+ selections. You will be able to make selections for the number of days on your tickets.
• If you have a WDW resort reservation you will be able to make FP+ selections 60 days out from your arrival.
• APs neither help nor hinder the process. You have to purchase them in advance and link them to your profiles, just like with any other ticket.

I agree you still need tickets. You can enter the voucher number for the tickets on MDE in lieu of a ticket number if you order online or by phone.

How much does FastPass+ cost? It’s included with your ticket, package or Annual Pass at no extra charge.

Buy your tickets before you arrive and you can choose your FastPass+ experiences up to 30 days in advance of each day of your theme park visit. When you buy tickets in advance and book a stay at a Disney Resort hotel, you can make your FastPass+ selections up to 60 days prior to check-in for the entire length of your stay. Disney Resort hotel Guests also receive a MagicBand to make their vacation more fun and convenient than ever before.

In advance, you can reserve up to 3 FastPass+ experiences per day at one theme park. After you use all of the initial FastPass+ experiences on the day of your visit (or your arrival windows have passed), you can select one additional FastPass+ experience to use that same day (based on availability). The additional FastPass+ experience is a rolling FastPass+ experience—each time you use an additional FastPass+ experience, you can select a new one.

Additional FastPass+ selections must be made at a FastPass+ kiosk within the same park as the FastPass+ experience that you wish to select, and they can be made at a different park from your previous selections.

"As has been mentioned you need to have your tickets purchased and linked to your MDE profile in order to make FP reservations.

The timing is:

Tickets but no resort reservation: 30 days ahead
Ticket and resort reservation: 60 days ahead
Resort reservation and no tickets: Only once tickets are purchased and linked. "
