We just got back from 5 days in sunny FL. Used Independance Air from Boston and had a GREAT fare ($99.00 RT)

They fly 50 seat regional jets into Dulles and as of this Sunday will have the A319's on line. (unfortunately we had the CRJ's into Orlando also)

The only problem we had was a longer than expected layover in Dulles as they needed to wait for the plane to arrive. I suspect that the new A319's won't have this problem as they are only being used on a few routes.

The return trip went well with almost no delay in Dulles, we landed there and connected to Boston within 20 minutes.

Hopefully they are getting a larger ridership now to help them stay flying. The from Bos to IAD and IDA to MCO were full and the flight back to IAD was full (Tuesday night) IAD to BOS only had about 15 people on it (9:40pm flight)

I would use them again, but for next year, I would keep checking Flyer Talk to see how they are doing.

Service was very good, even with a full plane and only 1 flight attendant. Gotta luv the hot towels.

Glad to hear everything went smoothly.
Thanks so much for the info.
Flying I air in Dec. BUF-IAD-MCO (Dec. 18-31).
Do you what routes will be serviced by the A319s?
When I selected seats on-line it looks like the IAD-MCO flight segments are on bigger planes, but wasn't really paying attention at the time.

Riu Girl,

The IDA-MCO leg will be with the A319. Iair has said that they will have leather seats and seat back TV's.

BUF-IAD will most likely have the CRJ's, which though small, is not a bad plane.

I hope they can stay afloat!! I'd use them!

We just came back from WDW and used Independence air IAD-MCO. Flew on the CRJ 50 both ways. Very comfortable planes and with the flights only half full we were able to spread out a little.
Customer service was the best I'd experienced with any airline ever. We were delayed at MCO coming home because Dulles closed the airport during a tremendous rain storm so no planes could land. The gate agent not only kept us posted almost every 10 minutes but she put out snacks and beverages for us. The airport concessions were open and we could have bought food so this was an especially nice gesture.
They're supposed to be getting their airbuses soon but don't hold your breath...
I just hope word of mouth of their great customer service will fill their flights and help their financial difficulties ease a bit!
