I started talking about this on a different subject and thought it would be neat to put one together of its own. These are not fact in any way just speculation #'s

MK Capacity 92,000
Avg Ticket $45
Admission one day $4,140,000
Avg money on food $15 ($1,380,000)
Avg money spent on Souveniers $15 ($1,380,000)
# of CM 10,000
# of Hours 16 Hours
avg cm pay $10/hr ($1,600,000)

So say income $6,900,000
minus salary $1,600,000

leaving with $5,300,000

As I said before these are not real #'s and all just guesses but just amazing what they add up to.

Add the following unknowns, and the "profit" dwindles:

1) Electricity, gas and other utilities
2) Inspections/license fees
3) Insurance...accident, storm damage, terrorist, workmens comp, workers health
4) Taxes, both property and payroll
5) Maintenance
6) Administrative costs, such as management salaries, accounting, warehousing for merchandise

Sure, they are still making $$$, but nothing near the profit you imply.

OH yeah I agree there are several other things that need to go into that equation to make it a real # but just thought it was funny to throw some #s around

But of the above how many tax breaks do they get? : :D

Plus you have to count in the overpriced food, say they buy a billion frozen burgers for, 5 cents a piece and sell them for 7 bucks a pop or whatever, thats one huge profit per burger alone. Add in all the other stuff...and they could be making a bundle.

Yeah, I was gonna say, management gets paid a lot more, and also there's security, guest services, administrative assistants, etc etc etc. Those are CMs who don't average at $10 an hr... plus the college program kids only get like $6 an hr. Then there's loss prevention (stolen and damaged merch). But what is kinda crazy is that most people will probably eat and buy a lot more than you gave them credit for. So it kinda evens out in the end.

Merchandising and Reedy Creek takes care of all of the above and more. Trust me on this one. :D

Don't forget the price of fireworks. A bus driver told us that the MK shoots off $30,000 worth every night, and Epcot, $50,000. WOW!!

We just took 2 backstage tours at the AK and MK and now I really appreciate where the money from my ticket goes. I was really impressed with AK and how well the animals are taken care of. I doubt if there is another zoo in all the world where the animals get the care they get here. I think we get a good value for our park admission. Sure Disney is making money but where would we all go on vacation if they suddenly went bankrupt.

Reedy Creek does not do anything regarding WDW security. And while Merchandising does take care of lost, stolen and broken items. They are still part of the Disney company, therefore still costing them money.

10,000 CM's...whew, that's a lot. I would think more like 500. That's 50 per land and still leaves 250 for characters and parades. Am I missing something? That would cut your labor estimate a bundle!

Actually I believe the number is between 6,000 and 7,000 Cm's. 50 per land is way to low. You have to remember all the Cm in restaurants, custodial, backstage, etc. It takes like 90 CM's to run the Safari at Animal Kingdom alone. Mission:Space operates with 32-40 CM's. And don't forget WDW has about 60,000 CM's, that number is closer to 70,000 when you add in non-Disney employes such as those at certain stores and restaurants at Downtown Disney.
