Part 2
The great part about just the two of us traveling was that we had planned just about nothing. Other then hotel resevations, we had a dinner ressie at California Grill and another at Emeril's Tchop Chop, that was it. We had no timetable, we figured we'd get up in the morning and do whatever came to mind. Having been to the parks so many times there was nothing we were really dying to see. I think Mission:Space is the only thing we haven't seen before. Since Marie doesn't do "scary rides" do to a neck problem (read;FEAR) and I don't like to ride alone, we didn't go there. Anyway, on with the show.
Got up around I don't remember and went down to Spoodles for breakfast. (There's a restaurant report on the other board.) Then we caught the slow boat to MGM. Can't they go just a little faster, please. Went to Millionaire and got right in. Marie was in second place at one point, I was fifth. Went to Disney: A man and his dream ( I think that's right) and walked through and watched the film. Marie wanted to do the Movie Ride so we had a fifteen or twenty minute wait but that was OK. Someone please update this attraction. After that it was off to see the Muppets, always a favorite. I heard someone calling out my name after we were seated and sure enough, a woman I know from work was a few rows behind us. Small world.
We were beginning to get hungry so we decided to go. Like I said, Marie doesn't do the scary stuff so forget about the Tower and the R&R coaster. There was a slow boat waiting and away we went. Got off at the Beach Club for that lunchtime favorite, Beaches & Cream. YEAH!!!!!
After a delicious lunch, we walked over to EPCOT. Went to Innoventions and fooled around there for a while. Couldn't resist sending Sarah an E- postcard with our happy, smiling faces. Nothing like a little salt in the wound. Don't remember what else we did but headed back to the room around 4pm.
Rested, showered and changed, then it was off to the Magic Kingdom. We spent about ten minutes looking for our brick by the entrance but couldn't find it. I know the general location and thought I remembered the number but no luck.Oh well.
That first view of the castle as you enter Main St. still blows us away. Brings back a lot of memories, sniff, sniff. Pretty crowded in the Kingdom tonight as we made our way down Main St..Browsed some of the shops then headed over to the Haunted Mansion. ( Marie can handle this one.) Had a pretty long wait but couldn't Fastpass because on time constraints. By the time we were finished there, there wasn't time for another ride so we wandered toward the the monorail, next stop, California Grill.
I was so happy to see that you now have to check-in on the second floor for dinner and they send the elevator down for you. Last time we ate here, we got off the elevator on the top floor and it was utter chaos. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner and the fireworks then caught the monorail back to the bus stop. I was really impressed with the bus service this time around, never had to wait very long. Sat on the balcony with a glass of wine and watched the Boardwalk activities, then slept.
A few subtle elbows to the ribs awaken me the next morning but I'm not going to fall for that ploy. I know she wants me to go for the coffee and croissants. I feign sleep until she gives up and makes the trip. After a few rounds of "I don't care, What do you want to do?" we get ready and walk over to EPCOT.
We picked up a Fastpass for Test Track then headed over to Energy. Ellen's still funny, can't say that much for Bill. Went back to Test Track and for the first time ever we heard a Disney Cast Member raise his voice. Apparently some young kids had cut in line and he was reading them the riot act, threatening to throw them out of the park and sentence them to twenty years hard labor. It was pretty entertaining. After Test Track it was almost noon so it must be time to eat. Had lunch at San Angel Inn then took that magical journey on El Rio del Tiempo. I get goose bumps on this ride. ( Kidding, of course) Stopped off in Norway for a ride and watched the film. We may have to vacation there sometime, looks like a cool place to visit. We bought dear Sarah a fleece jacket in the gift shop; the guilt factor rearing it's ugly head.
We spent the rest of the afternoon strolling, shopping and eating. Our food intake included pork tacos, pirogies with kielbasa, cabbage rolls ( three times, we liked them), sushi (California rolls), last night was the first time I had them and I fell in love, pastry in France, honey wine, cherry wine, cabernet, Mexican beer, German beer and espresso. And we have a 7pm reservation at Chefs de France. We went back to the room to rest, shower and change. ( And have our stomachs pumped).
Refreshed, we walked back to EPCOT to eat some more. Chefs de France has always been a favorite and tonight was no exception. Our waitress had only been at Disney for three weeks and was struggling mightly with the language and doing a fine job. She was very nice. Just for kicks, I added some escargot on top of this afternoons' assortment. We enjoyed dinner, watched the fireworks and headed home. We are not night owls by any stretch of the imagination. In our daily life, we are both up early and it's usually lights out by 10pm. When Sarah is with us, Marie will go back to the room to sleep while the two of us swim or go downtown or whatever. We all have to come back for a wedding in June and Sarah will be 21 by then. She'll probably drag me to Pleasure Island every night.
I woke up at 2am with just a little indigestion. What could have caused that? Couple of Tums and I was good as new....yeah, right.
