The Cast:

Alex (that's me): Male, 29, the compulsive planner in the family. First Disney trip since 1987!

Crystal (DW): Female, 30, deprived of her childhood dreams, making her first visit ever.

Sunday, September 30: Kennedy Space Center & Downtown Disney

Weather: Sun/clouds with an afternoon T-storm, low 80s.

Since KSC is not tecnically part of WDW, I'll keep this part short. Here are some things we learned about visiting KSC:

1) It is a full day attraction! They have added a ton of films and exhibits over the years. We were there from open to close, which we had not been planning on.

2) Do the bus tour as soon as it starts running! We spent a few hours viewing mostly empty exhibits, and by the time we got around to doing the bus tour the line was 45 minutes.

3) The bus tour has been cut drastically because of security concerns. They no longer let you anywhere near the launch pads or the Vehicle Assembly Building, which used to be stops on the tour. There are also heavily armed guards near the bus platforms. We're talking automatic weapons here. That being said, the bus tour is still worthwhile for the Saturn V rocket alone.

After KSC closed, we drove back to Orlando and hit Downtown Disney. Got seated at Wolfgang Puck Cafe with no waiting. Our streak of excellent meals continued with tasty wood-fired pizzas. We spent the rest of the night shopping, shopping, and shopping. The stores were packed, which is a good sign for the local economy. Tomorrow is the first weekday we will spend at Disney, so that will be the real test of the crowds. We were way too exhausted for Pleasure Island, so we called it a night around 10:30 and went back to the hotel. We have a 6am wake up scheduled for Animal Kingdom and hopefully Typhoon Lagoon!

Fall has definitely arrived in Orlando. Forecasters are expecting record low temperatures in the upper 50s tomorrow morning. Kali River Rapids should be quite a thrill at 8:30am!

We cancelled our KSC adventure. We had the "do it all" tickets, but we weren't sure what would be open or closed and it just seemed too difficult. Thanks for the tips for our next trip. We were always too exhausted to even consider Pleasure Island. Next time I have to make myself rest one afternoon just so I can see what Pleasure Island is.

Thanks for posting, sounds like a good day!!
