I haven't read all the replies but I want to tell you that going to Disney is the best thing WITHOUT kids. No whining, no moping, no just eating chicken strips. You will have the time of your lives.
You can go out until late night, if you want. I am glad that my boys don't want to come along anymore on our annual trips to WDW. You will be too :goodvibes

I'm glad this thread popped back up. I enjoyed reading through it! Glad you had a great time! My DH & I are planning our first trip to the World sans children next year. First time since 2000...I can't wait!

I found this thread while looking to see what others experienced while going without kids. DH and I are considering going for our 20th anniversary, but I just don't know if I can do it yet! If my youngest was a bit older I would be fine with it, but I'm just not sure. It would be 2014, so I may feel differently by then!

Has anyone went without younger children(mine would be 9-1/2 by then) or do most wait until they are at least teenagers? The kids probably wouldn't even mind since they love staying with grandma, and they get enough trips to Disney. My oldest has told me to just go and enjoy! :) I know I would miss them soooo much, but just the thought of getting to do what we want is sooooooooo exciting!!!!!

Just celebrated 46 years of marriage. We spent our honeymoon at Disneyland and have recently become DVC members. We have been to WDW three times in the last 2 years and have reservations for Christmas and for DL in September 2013. You will have a wonderful time alone. One of my favorite memories from our years at DL was when we took 2 books of E-tickets and never used one of them. Just the two of us and we never rode a ride. Just went people watching and walking. Best trip ever without the kids.

Well, a year later, we made it up to the kids with "the best vacation ever" -- a 5 day cruise then 10 days at AoA -- i think we made up for not taking them :rotfl2:

They also benefited because , as two adults alone, we were able to go to more of the non kid-centric restaurants and non ride attractions and had a much better idea of what they, as older kids would enjoy -- which made this trip even better !

Thanks for the support --- heres the sit

Its not that there is nothing to do.. or that we won't find something to do..

I am terrified of the repeat of the last experience with an adult trip.
When we go as a family, if there is an attraction the kids want to go on, and one of US didn't want to that was fine.. the one who didn't want to didn't.. saw a show, browsed the shops, had a snack as suggested and we would meet up after the attraction,

In this situation... we don't have that option. I would never just leave her to go on a ride/attraction alone. She would never leave me to go one an attraction alone. Although there are attractions that one of us LOVE and the other HATES.

First what a sweet birthday gift, I'm sure you will have a terrific time and that it won't be a repeat of your last adult only trip, that being said, you might have to make concessions about what you are willing to ride and see since it will only be the two of you this time.

The only time I've been to Hollywood Studios with my husband, I didn't get to ride ToT that day because he wanted nothing to do with it and since I was willing to give up ToT he agreed to riding RNRC twice that day since it's one of my favorite rides even though he's not a huge fan of roller coasters.
