So, after a three year engagement, my fiance and I finally found a spot in our schedules where we can get married, and since we're both obsessed with Disney we decided on Disney world! We're hoping for September 2009, and we don't have our date yet, so I was wondering if anyone knew what our chances were of getting a Thursday in September at the wedding pavilion. It's a morning wedding, and I know it's a big off season for them, so I was hoping for some realistic odds here. Yes, I called Disney, and they've said they'll call me back.

Also, since I'm a little short on planning time compared to most of you (9 months? what were we thinking?! :goodvibes ) I was hoping for some advice on where to start. What are the hardest things to plan or the most important to get done as soon as possible and what can be put off to later? Any advice would be welcome!!!

Thanks in advance!!

:welcome: to the board!!!

Congratulations on getting started!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your chances of getting what you want is pretty good. Of course, I don't know for sure but you are correct that September is a slower time and a morning during the week is probably pretty good too!

September is a great time to get married at Disney! It's still "summer" down there and the crowds are low!

Also, the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings folks are EXPERTS!!! When I got married in September 2005, I didn't call them until April and we got the date/time/location we wanted. There were no big issues and everything was just fine. Disney can actually pull off the planning in about 90 days if necessary!;)

Are you considering a Wishes or Escape wedding?

Wishes wedding for sure. I have a very large Hispanic family and even with all our squeezing down we still got 30 on my side, not to mention his. It was actually my parents' idea, b/c they knew how much we loved Disney but we weren't sure we could afford it, so they ended up calling us today to say "oh by the way, since you're the only child and grandchild, we're paying for a wishes wedding....and no, you can't say no" lmao!!!

Lucky girl!!

Take a look at some of the information HERE

and start looking at the list of officiants HERE

You can check out the officiants and try to decide which one you want to contact first...I would recommend contacting a couple of them and see what information they send you and then make a decision. Most of the brides here have used someone off that list and can give you some ideas.

And then just ask any questions you have!

My advice is to not hope for the week between the 7th and the 13th. 09/09/09 falls in that week, and whilst you were thinking Thursday, not the Wednesday that day is, you might have quite a spill over of people who want that date... :confused3
I'm not 100% on how it works, but I would imagine that could be a possibility...

I think your chances of getting your date are good. We had to change our date and went for a Wednesday in October and didn't have any trouble switching.

Planning a Disney wedding is VERY different than planning a 'regular' wedding. When you go for your planning session 6 months before the wedding you basically plan the whole thing then and there so to speak. You have a menu tasting, a cake tasting, and a floral meeting.

It is so easy to plan a Disney wedding in the time frame you have. We planned ours in 9 months.

The best thing to do is to read up here and ask away if you have questions. You can also read through every one's planning journals and trip reports to get ideas.

Congrats.
