Okay I just started collecting pins at WDW this weekend. Where do I go now? We don't have a Disney Store near us here in Mississippi.....are there websights to buy pins besides ebay? Where do I go? Is there a websight with pictures of all the pins? Suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Just want to say welcome and the sorry refers to the fact that once you get started you usually get addicted as well, ask anyone of us.
First, keep reading the collectors board. That is were alot of the info is posted and lots of talking takes place.

Second: the best source of pictures of pins and information on them is pinpics (www.pinpics.com)

Third: The best source for news and new pins coming out is dizpins (www.dizpins.com)

hope these three things help. Then as you get braver, come join us Thursday nights in chat for pin chat. Again, welcome and come on in.

www.cheappins.com
If you buy from any internet auction, make sure to check there first. I feel so bad when I see people bid three times as much for a pin on Ebay than what cheappins is selling the same pin for.
When I buy from cheappins, I buy those that are tradeable in DL. Guess I am just paranoid WDW may one day follow suit. Of course if you like it, that's a different story.
Try to keep in mind to buy pins that you like. That way you won't feel like you are "stuck" with one down the road.
The Dis is a great collector's board. We look out for another. Also, the no profit rule helps saves us from being burned, as other boards have.
We all would be happy to answer any questions you have. No question is too dumb. (One of us has probably already asked it!)
;)
And kiss your extra spending money good-bye.:jester:

And this may be of help:
You can buy RACK pins directly from WDW Merchandise or DL DelivEARS. They charge a fairly hefty shipping charge ($8, if I recall correctly). But the shipping covers any order under $100. So better to buy many, since you will pay the same in shipping.
I have not done this, but I know some call World of Disney direct and order. That way you can get 10% off if you are a DC member.
The plus side, unless you live in FL or CA -- NO SALES TAX! :D So that certainly helps cover the shipping. And it doesn't just have to be pins. You can order WDW/DL merchandise.
I would suggest you know what pins/merchandise you want when you call. (SKU #s are even better, if you can find out what they are.)

Wow thanks! I am a regular on the Community Board and I know how the DISers watch out for each other which is great!! Also thanks for the three links. There are so many of them...LOL! And they are all so so cute!!!! The only thing I am thinking of buying now is three of the 2000 wedding pins...Cinderella&Prince, Donald&Daisy, and Aladdin&Jasmine....she is asking $30 and that includes shipping and insurance.

Beauty,
Welcome to our ever growing numbers. A word of advice, only collect the pins you like. Otherwise, you will join the rest of us who are filing for bankruptcy. LOL

Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw. I'm a bargain shopper. If I really am hunting for something, I do a search on Yahoo Auctions and Ebay.
Or once you get started, list on this trading board what you need and what you have to trade. It is hard getting your collection started. But we have all been there and understand!
If you know of anyone going to any of the parks, you can ask them to keep their eyes open. Maybe they can make a trade for you with someone there. And then in return you can trade with them.
Pinpics has a new feature that is wonderful. You can search for a pin.
For example:
Pin 2170: WDW Wedding Cinderella & Prince July 2000, shows 61 trading and 25 wanting this pin.
Click on: Members Trading. You can see who wants to trade.
Or try your luck on Seeing what you need to get this pin through a trade.
But sometimes it's easier just to buy the pin. ;-)

WELCOME!!!!

You know in the TOT and you enter the twilight zone and there is no turning back?

Beauty -- That depends on how much time & $$$$ you want to put into it and how fast!;) :D

was it at the Friday night dinner at Chef Mickey's or possibly the pin meet at the Contemporary Friday night. Was it the AK poin event that sealed it for ya?

Thanks for joining. You know we all like to know there are more of us out there that cannot resist. I heard that we converted Beverly Lynn this weekend too. :)

Fessing up..... I got Beauty hooked as well as Beverly Lynn this weekend. (althought Brer-Rabbit, Mousefan and I have been working on BL for awhile). No offense Beauty, but she was easy! After looking thorugh my pin bag at LeCellier on Thursday, she was interested.... by Saturday night she was hooked. I took her into the Emporium before the parade Saturday night and that as they say was that. <eg>

DISCLAIMER:

Although I will take responsibility for initially getting these people hooked, I refuse to accept any blame for the continuing habit.:p

Yep Robin it was too easy! Now as of right this moment I'm out $49 dollars which isn't so bad YET but I am also talking to some other people...the $49 is money I am mailing off tomorrow! Well off to ebay!!

Oh, I WANT ONE OF THE TIGER PINS that Beverly Lynn had....I'm a HUGE CAT FAN!! I haven't been able to find one....I didn't know about the AK pin event or I would have probably been there especially if I could have gotten a Tiger!
