We have always been RD people. Myself and my son would act as runners to collect FPs and then the whole family would spend the rest of the day using the FPs. We worked the system really well but DW especially hated the getting up early for RD.

So for our upcoming March trip (staying at BLT) our FP+ window opened this morning and i was able to make all my FP+ reservations for afternoons. We already have booked dinner places so we know which park we will be in. So I reserved FP+ times between lunch and dinner.

If we wake up early we can go to a park and ride before the main crowds or we can sleep in and use our afternoon FPs.

This is a much different system and only time will tell how the crowd flow is managed. The big worry is that the lines for attractions will be long if you don't have a FP+. For now I like this system and expect that by March, Disney will have enough experience to adjust the system.

BTW, I used the MDE disney app on my ipad to make all my selections and it was easy and fast. I think it helped that I had all of us set up as family members in My Family & Friends.

I am curios to know how the FP+ system works out for you especially since you said you worked the old system very well. How many fast passes would your family use on average with FP-? If it was several more than the 3 rations we get now, how will you manage the long lines many are encountering? I know you have some time before your vacation, but it would be great if you could post how things worked out :yay:

We are a RD family too and I'm interested to see how your approach ends up working out. So say you end up sleeping in and don't get there until lunch time...will you just ride the 3 rides you have FP+ for and call it good for the day or will you be willing to wait in longer standby lines for rides once you've used up your 3 FP+? I'm not trying to be argumentative just really curious to see how people are tweaking their normal touring strategies.

We are also going in March and ended up booking our FP+ times for our usual strategy -2 in the AM and 1 right after lunch. Then we head back to the hotel for a rest/swim, eat dinner somewhere and come back for evening entertainment. With getting there at RD, we can do ~ 8-9 rides before leaving in the early afternoon. I just can't see getting the same number in with FP+ in the afternoon because standby times would be way up even for the non-headliners.

So please come back and share how it works out!

We were there 12/30 to 1/3, so it was very busy! We did RD for some things, then saved our FP+ for later in the afternoon when we knew ride times would be high. IT worked great! At RD at the MK we rode SM, Buzz, did the laugh floor, and then over to PP. Our FP+ was for Splash, POTC, and HM from around 12-4pm. IT really worked well by keeping the FP on the opposite side of the park we started with in the morning.

I like your strategy to keep FP on one side of the park while doing the other at RD!

I will let everyone know how it works out. We used to be able to get 5-7 FP per day before. If we have to wait in long lines for all the other attractions such that the number of attractions per day we can go on is only our 3 FP+ plus one or two other then I would say it is a BIG PROBLEM. That is why I am expecting for Disney to fine tune the system over the next couple of weeks.

I'll be watching other trip reports to see how it is working out.

My guess is that for MK you should be able to have more than 3 since there are so many attractions.

We were also there 12/31 to 1/6, and that was our basic strategy as well. However, I will note that we did not get any FP+ or - at MK for our whole trip, just used it as our morning park twice and late emh and rode everything several times. Crazy busy, and no need to traverse the park for legacy FP.

3 FP+ will not be enough for us. We will probably try to schedule our FP+ in the afternoon and use rope drop for the attractions that we don't have a FP+ for.

If it's a day we decide to hop, we can do morning RP in one park and then go to the next park to use our FP+.
