I haven't been around all that much lately, but, I wanted to drop in and say 'hi'. I hope you've been having fun!
I've been busy working too hard...and we're about to become foster parents for real--we have a teenager moving in this week.
So many teens need families to care for them and be there to give them a last bit of hope of becoming a good person. So thank you!
Yeah...I'm a little worried that she's got too much pressure on her. Nobody should have to be perfect in order to get a family!
Absoltuely! The two things that best helped me get through my daughters' teenage years was A) Take time to think back what it was like to be young and B) Never take it personally....Contary to what people say..It is not a battle of wills...it's merely a young soul trying to define herself and make her own way.Teenager?? Wow. I've had 3 and and even though its' alot of work, its' SO worth it. That is an age where they REALLY need strong role models. Best of luck!![]()
Okay...I am going to hope I'm better at it than that, though.
(Seriously: I've looked at some of that ad campaign...it would have had my heart breaking if I lived in the US and saw it regularly; it was well done. I don't know if I'm ready to adopt a teen, although I suspect that if a foster child in my home became adoptable, I'd probably want to adopt them, but, I'm definitely ready to offer a family and include a permanent offer of family within that. There's something that feels strange to me about adopting a teen without them getting a chance to know me and decide whether they really want to be part of my family.)
