Just Say No!...to the $12.00 Cannoli.

looking at that $12.00 cannolli, i'm not impressed

it just looks like a couple of regular cannollis to me...

(which would be enough for one person, alone)

Actually Mr and Mrs Smith misquoted me. I said that I am used to bucatini being thick and round with a hole in the middle (almost like a drinking straw). This noodle was thick and square with no hole and similar to a fettucine.

I certainly hope this renews your trust in me :lmao:

Kevin

Please forgive me:worship: :worship: :worship:

That bugs me when the menu states one type of noodle and you get another. Like they're interchangeable ;)

My kids like Olive Garden - (I can't openly admit this at home, I live in Little Italy), but when we do go there, I order the baked Ziti (which really isn't that bad), but its really baked penne......drives me CRAZY:rotfl:

Carry on

Didn't mean to misquote you, Kevin. I was typing notes while I was listening. I guess I only caught the part about it being thick like fettucine. I didn't realize it was missing the hole.

:rotfl2: Olive Garden.

:rotfl2: Olive Garden.

Thank you for adding to my shame. Its hard enough for me to admit it, now I get ridiculed too :lmao: . It's hard for 2 reasons, 1) My Italian American heritage and 2) schlepping out the the suburbs to eat there as well, when I have a spaghetti joint on every corner.

Thanks Sleepy. :goodvibes :goodvibes

This place was opened to alleve some pressure and to fill up more CP packages. By pricing out the out of pocket folks, they may have more open tables for dining plan folks. This leads to less complaints during the busy holiday season about lack of reservations available for dinner.

wow, almost 150 posts about a $12.00 cannoli. I bet no one thought it would be this special:cool2:

Just curious, does Tutti serve one or two cannoli? Most Italian restaurants I have been to serve one cannoli, for which I pay between 6 and 7 dollars...I thought Tutti served two cannolis. Anyone know for sure how big the portion is? This may be relevant to the 12 $ price! ;)

There was a link to a review earlier in the thread, and the review contained pictures. The picture of the cannoli showed two of them.

There is a review of Tutto Italia on the DIS Unplugged podcast and photos from our recent dinner.

Here is a link to the photos and to the podcast review.

You get two cannoli for $12.00. In the photo I placed a regular teaspoon on the plate for reference.

In the photo of the antipasto misto...they are serving utensils.

So..if the portion consists of two cannolis instead of one, do you still think the item is overpriced?

I think the restaurant itself is overpriced and an uneven value.

Some good and some not so good.

Listen to the review.....it's all in there.

Sounds like there are many unfavorable things being said about this new restaurant. I'm wondering if it'll stick through :confused3 Even though the 'old' Italian Restaurant Alfredo's was a bit over-priced we kinda liked it!

I hate paying those prices for pasta. We dined at Alfredo's once. Just to experience it. For the price of the pasta I can have a steak somewhere else.
It probably cost them $1.00 to make a pasta dish. No way I'm paying $23.00 for noodles.

Honest to pete, if anyone can find a reasonably priced food at Disney, come find me...without the DDP we'd not be able to swing the prices there...our dinner at Narcosse's was over 400 bucks!! and even at Spoodles which was just so/so it was over 100 for 2 people...I live about 15 minutes from the coast of ME/NH and there are some unreal restaurants in our area...for 100 bucks 2 people can get a killer meal....I would not be very happy with the quality of the food for the cost at many of the places we ate vs. what you can get outside of Disney....

I agree...but there's "gouging" and there's "GOUGING".

What TI is doing is just crazy. Their prices make the OTHER Disney prices look "reasonable". All things considered, that's pretty astounding.

We'll take a pass. We have amazing italian food nearby at home.....I'd venture at least as good as TI and probably MUCH better....and would pay roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of their prices, depending on the item. The cannoli, for example, which are 100% home made, fresh, and HUGE (think size of a good bakery's eclairs...or about 1 1/2 times the size of the ones in the review pics above) run $4....for TWO of them on a plate. Thankfully, there's other choices around Epcot.....none what I would call reasonably priced, but certainly much better VALUES that TI seems to be.

The clock's already ticking for Tutto Italia. The plan is to remodel and open a new restaurant in Italy by Fall 2008. Tutto Italia is just filling in until they are ready to begin remodeling.

If you're in WS with a friend, you can say "This restaurant is so bad, I'll bet you $50 it's not even here a year from now." ;)

I guess it depends on if it's fresh pasta or not. I don't know if you've ever made fresh pasta but you will realize that a plate of it is worth much more than a buck!

Tutto Italia seems to be really pushing the envelope with their absurd prices. I realize everyone has different budgets and some are more than willing to pay high prices for food for varying reasons, but a cannoli is a cannoli, and $12.00 is blatant overpricing. You know it's the same cannoli that is sold at the kiosk just outside their door for $4.00, with plate art added, but come on. I say no to the $12.00 cannoli! If you don't agree, just move me to the Budget Board! ;)

no, you evel 12 dollar noodle. bump:banana:

At $12.00 per serving,Tutto Italia could actually stuff a $10.00 bill with the luscious ricotta filling, and still be able to make a very good profit. :lmao:
