Just Say No!...to the $12.00 Cannoli.

Actually, I think that families can afford to eat on property and they do. That's why there are line ups and it's difficult to get ADRs at many places. I don't think Disney's too worried about going out of business for over-priced food. :)
People with money are lining up. Or people who have saved for years to go to Disney are lining up. I have asked people that have moderate incomes. First they don't go to Disney every year. Second they don't do many big meals while they are there. Alot of people buy off property for breakfast and lunch. When you think of the prices that Disney charges it is VERY expensive!! You don't have to be a brain scientist to figure that out. The average family should be able to go to Disney and still be able to afford food. How fair is it for the wealthy to go to Cinderella's Castle to see the princesses when the average person could never afford to spend the price they are asking. Breakfast for two adults and one child 104.00! How would a average family afford to spend that kind of money for breakfast?? It's not right. If the food was superb, maybe?? The food you get there is okay. FOR ME and my thinking Disney is WAY to expensive in their food prices. Granted you don't have to go but what child would not. Isn't it about children?

A. No, not every aspect of WDW is about children and a fine Italian restaurant would not be geared toward children (but of course they are welcome there).

B. Disney has no moral obligation to make their parks and experiences accessible and affordable for all. That would be wonderful but they are a company not a goodwill society. Of course they are going to try to make money!! As you are probably aware, the average family will never ever even set food on WDW soil. But c'est la vie. It's really not the end of the world. It's not like WDW is a necessity of life like shelter or clean water.

Bravo, well said.

I feel the same way about Cinderellas royal table ($50 for a childs dinner, I think not) but it's constantly sold out. I don't see why this is going to be any difference. If you can afford to eat there, you will.
Same principle at the resorts, If you can afford $540/night conceriege (sp) you will pay it.

I agree that Disney has no moral obligation to make their parks and experiences accessible and affordable........and to be honest I have no problem spending money on GOOD food after all I am on vacation....I think only time will tell if the food is 4 star's or better for those prices it should be then it will be a success for Disney IF NOT it will be a bust, adn there prices will be adjusted I'm sure.............When I go back in July 2008 I will hope to get ADR'S and try for myself. .....it just might be the next LeCeiller.

On the 08 DDP, you'll be paying OOP if you want a salad with your meal, and you'll be paying that tip on that overpriced salad/dessert/etc., too. A family of 4 that gets basic caesar salads, orders the cheapest pasta dish on the lunch menu, has 4 cannolis for dessert and orders nothing more than 4 soft drinks will pay $64 OOP for the salads and a 15% tip of $30, for a grand total of $94 OOP for lunch.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2008 base DDP lunch at Tutto Italia. Would you like a 2nd mortgage with that? ;)

:thumbsup2 Agree! We are going to Tutto for our Candlelight Processional Dinner Package and can't wait to give it a try :goodvibes

Here we go again:

A. There's more than the Caesar salad and cannoli on the menu.

B. If it's too expensive for your liking, then don't eat there!

I won't eat there. They have no moral obligation to provide a meal that isn't over priced. I will also tell 7 people what I think of the price and so on. In the end we will see if this strategy is good business for the long run. CRT may be sold out sometimes but not like it had been in the past and the reviews of CRT were not as nasty in "general" as before the price hike. Again time will tell if it makes a difference or not.

Good luck to you, DisOrBust, on your crusade to bring down the Mouse.

Just an FYI:

Looking at 2 of the other Pantina Group restaurants dessert menus have Canoli at $4.50 and $5.00.

I'm with you. I will also pass the price information on. I'm sure it won't make a dent in Disney but you never know. I'm an American. I just want to help others.

:goodvibes The prices have gotten ridiculous for what you get. I have no problem paying for great food. Disney's food is just not that good anymore. Other parks are much better and have way more options as far as CS. I can't remember the last time I had a really great meal at Disney - it's been many, many years and the prices have gone up, up, up the quality has gone down, down, down. I had a great lunch at IOA a last month and Seaworld last year for at least half of disney's cost. I used to look forward to eating at DW but not anymore:confused3

Thanks!! I thought it was just me and my family. I love Disney but the food and the prices are ridiculious. My husband complains after ever meal how bad it was and how quickly the heartburn comes on. Honestly, I can't remember when I had a great meal there??

I'd love to know your secret spot for a great lunch at Seaworld. We've been there half a dozen times, and never found anything better than mall food. The park is great and we really enjoyed it, but the food is really not good. Best place we found is the CS next to the dolphin stadium, nice taco salads and fresh watermelon... hardly compares to our lunch at Kona Cafe, and cost about the same.

:lmao: well said!:lmao:

I was just on another thread, describing to someone what School Bread in Norway is. I just realized that the giant, wonderfully homebaked, school bread is only $2.50!! Hmmm, just a comparison. ;)

This is why my family only does counter service. My parents and friends and other family members no longer eat at disney even with the 20% discount.(all local) I am not paying that much money for crap and crap is where their food service is going. Lowered quantity, higher prices, less quality = crap. Disney's food service has turned into a trough for the ddp.

Frankly, I can't help but wonder if this is to entice folks that the DDP is a deal after all.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more menus like this spreading over WDW.

Thank goodness I have my DVC kitchen, and a car!

And one thing folks: If you don't like the prices, COMPLAIN! Write your letters to the Food and Beverage head at WDW.

Jodi

I've looked at the menu on wdwig and either you better be on the DDP or have a very large dining budget...even for lunch.

Since I don't fall into either category, I'll pass.

I will pass too, but they DO take the Disney Dining Experience card, saving you 20% off the bill.:thumbsup2

Do you mind if I ask where you've been eating? While I know that there are some horrible spots at WDW, it seems as though they are pretty easily avoidable, with a little planning. Our first trip as adults was last month and we were actually quite pleased with the majority of our meals.
