About 45 minutes ago I was traveling over the Verranzo Narrow Bridge heading out of Brooklyn heading east. When I said to my son, what a beautiful view tonight. With that I looked right up the Hudson and there she was the Disney Magic heading towards the bridge.

I was like “Wow”, this is too cool. My husband and I just got off the Magic last Monday. I think it’s heading to th e Bahamas and PC.

Good luck to everyone on that sailing. The weather was beautiful tonight in NYC.

That is so cool!

We were on a (Princess?) cruise once and woke up in the morning to a Disney ship docked next to us. Talk about bittersweet.

The Canadian cruises with Disney Magic are done. I made my dh go to Battery park and take a picture of us sailing by The Statue of Liberty. I know I could of gotten a picture off the internet, but I knew we were definitely, on the ship when he took the picture.

I will be on her next Saturday!!!! Can't wait. I saw her on the webcam this morning. It must have been so cool to see her from the bridge!!

We will be on the reposition cruise, NYC to San Juan!:boat:

I'll be on that one too! It's my first Disney Cruise (and actually my first cruise of any kind) and I'm so excited!!

You will love it!!! It will be my 42nd DCL cruise and I am still just as excited as my first (the maiden voyage of the Magic back in 1998). I will be on with 3 friends. Any questions, just ask away!!!

We sailed The Magic to Canada in 2012, it was the last scheduled Canadian cruise that year.
We spent 2 days in NYC after the cruise before we flew home to Ft. Lauderdale.
The Magic was sailing empty to Miami from NYC with only crew onboard.
As we are approaching Ft Lauderdale airport I look out my window down at the ocean and there she is sailing past Ft. Lauderdale down to Miami.
I went nuts, of course had no phone or camera to grab a picture. It was a perfect end to our trip.

I have so many questions, even after doing so much reading/preparing these past few weeks (this was a late booking for various reasons). For now I’ll limit it to this: what’s the one thing you wish you’d known before taking your first Disney Cruise that you didn’t, but you think everyone should know?

And to preempt the first answer that everyone seems to give me: I did get to grab a Palo dinner reservation, and I’m hoping I can snag a brunch reservation on embarkation day.

My one thing (which candidly I did know before my first cruise but only because I obsessively read these boards, and which is not really advertised by DCL) is you can get a day pass or a length-of-cruise pass to the rainforest room in the spa without booking an expensive spa treatment.

Yes, I read this on someone’s trip report. I called DCL and bought a pass. The pass can be used by anyone and any day. You can go as many times as you want on that day and it was only 16 dollars.

I went once and really enjoyed it. I was on the Magic. I hear the larger ships rooms are much fancier with more amenities. So, guess I am glad I experienced this Rain Forest Room first. It was well worth the $16.

I would say the one thing I wish I did was to slow down. Realize how much fun it can be to just be in the moment and not try to do everything on your first cruise. I still have not done everything after 41 cruises. Don't be so busy running from one activity to another that you don't take some time to just soak up the all the subtle theming and atmosphere of the ship. Grab a seat on Deck 4 outside and watch the ocean for awhile. You will get hooked and want to book another cruise. I can almost guarantee it. Make sure to go to the main stage production shows in the Walt Disney Theatre

I also couldn't get Palo brunch and will try upon boarding so even Platinum can't always snag a reservation. I have had good luck onboard. Try to be on line for the brunch reservation about 10 minutes before they actually open as the line will form pretty quickly. Check the Navigator (you will get one at check in and subsequent ones will be left on your bed each night) for location but it will probably be in Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 midship.

Have a great cruise!!!

Edited to add....just in case....bring some non drowsy seasickness meds with you and if you think you may be seasick take it even before you board. A percentage of people do get seasick and it can ruin your enjoyment. Going out of NY can be a bit rougher than sailing the Caribbean. Be prepared! My friend who has been on many cruises gets sick sometimes...never knows when but she was very sick the first two days on her Bermuda cruise last month on the Magic. She so wishes she took her meds BEFORE she set sail. They don't work as well if you are already feeling sick.

What’s funny is when I am docked next to the Dream (or any of their ships) while we are on a different cruise line, I’m so sad I’m not on it! I feel like I should be in the scene in Forest Gump when he sees LT. Dan from his boat and get all excited and waves as he jumps off his boat and into the water to get to him. Haha that’s exactly my reaction when I see any Disney ship!

I've been lucky to not be on another line in port with a Disney ship. I would probably cry if that ever happened.

This is good to know! I love relaxing sauna time (even if I only ever do it on vacation and those ceramic loungers look amazing.

I'm definitely looking forward to treating this as a relaxing vacation where we don't try to do everything. My girlfriend and I have had enough "fill every single minute of time" vacations to WDW this year, that it'll be nice to just sit back and relax for once (though I fully expect by halfway through Sunday we'll be like 'we need to do this and this and this and ALL THE OTHER THINGS TOO').

My girlfriend does get motion sick with certain things, so she's stocking up on the meds. I'm also making sure to stock up on headache and pain meds too, just because the last thing I want to have happen on a cruise is to be stuck in my cabin dealing with a migraine or balky knees.

After yesterday I'm finally about 80% packed, and so excited! Only a few more days to go!
