Our wonderful cat Lenny has liver and kidney failure and we had to make the decision to put him down. DH is on his way to Vets

I know its the humane thing to do but it just hurts so much - I miss him already - I couldn't go - I feel so awful and cruel - but I don't want him to suffer anymore:guilty:

Very very sad today
Sue:sad1:

Sorry to hear that.....

It's never an easy decision, but you made the right one.

Time will help heal.....:grouphug:

 Awww.... I am so so sorry. I know firsthand how difficult a decision that is to make. Rest assured that you did the right thing (not that I expect that to help you much right now). :flower3:

If it would help you to share stories or pictures, I would love to hear/see them. It helped me to talk about all the fun, silly times we had with Trouble, yes ~ Trouble, before we had to let him go because of kidney failure.

I was saddened to read the title of your post, as it brough back memories of a good friend, and member of our family we had to put to sleep back in 2005 due to similar ailments. It was a hard decision for us, but the right one, keeping our cat, Ron alive in his condition was not fair to him, and not how such a noble creature like a cat should have to live. I guess I just have to say take comfort in doing the right thing even though it was a very hard decision. Luckily we had/have 2 other cats at the time to help with missing Ron, but we have his ashes, and have yet to decide what to do with them.

Condolences.
Pet loss is so sad :sad1:

I'm sorry.

I had to take our Amanda to be put down in 2007. It was horrible. DH took Alexandria in 2004, so it was my "turn". :guilty:

thank you all for your kindness:grouphug:

You know its just been a suck year - I get dx with leukemia, chemo , radiation and a bone marrow transplant 6 months ago and I am w/o any signs of leukemia.

DH worked for Circuit city for YEARS! and poof gone - He does currently have a job w/ Best Buy doing the same thing(fixes TVs)

A dear friend of mine's husband and another close friend of mine are both waiting for a kidney.

and the petty little list goes on and on:sad2:

Our animals are not pets they are family members - and our DEAR beautiful green eyed Lenny is now in Heaven - one of our other cats Draco is walking around in every room just meowing - DD will be home in a few minutes and I know she is going to be a wreck.

Again thanks for all the kindness

Sue

I just now read your post. My heart goes out to you. We've been down that road before, never an easy one. Their members of our family. Hugs to you, from NC.

Sue:

I'm oh so sorry to hear about your kitty. It sounds as iff you've really had a hell of a year...it'll only serve to make next year look GREAT.

Your in my thoughts

Awww, so sorry for your loss!! Our pets are family members too. It really takes a toll when we have to put one down. But I firmly believe in not having him suffer. You did the right thing, but it's still not easy.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It's never easy, but I'm sure you did the right thing. :grouphug:

It's never an easy thing to do. I'm so very sorry for your loss and having to go through all of this.

Oh Sue!
So sorry to hear about your loss! My boss just went threw the samething with her pet! Just like Mike said, time will heal! Hugs to ya!

My heart goes out to you and your family.

I made that same decision just a month ago with our Mickey! He was a beautiful 14 yr old siamese who was with us since the age of 5 wks. We still have his sister who searches areas of the house Mickey would never let her go, looking for him. While they both were diagnosed with hyper-thyroid he did not do well on the meds, I am very thankful she is doing well so far.... not sure my DD can go thru that again soon and I am sure I am not ready for it either.

just me

:surfweb:
btw... I made the decision to adopt 2 babies and they sure have helped me laugh and remember the good times with Mickey

Thank you all for your support and kindness - yesterday was extremely rough but I do beleive it was the right thing to do :sad1:

DD took it better than I thought she would - she said "he's in a better place now and not suffering anymore" she sad but doing well(better than me)

I just want people to know that I am very GRATEFUL that my leukemia is in remission and DH has a job - when I reread my 2nd post I kinda sounded indifferent to the above formentioned - but believe me I KNOW HOW LUCKY I AM!

Again thank you all for you kindness:grouphug:

Sue:)

So sorry about your cat, I'm glad your daughter is taking it well, that makes it a bit easier.
BTW I didn't think you sounded indifferent in your pp. You've had a rough year, and although things are looking better, its ok to look back and say &*^& that sucked!! ;) I hope the coming year brings you much health and prosperity.
