My oldest is now 10, so he's an adult. I was actually pleased with this because though he cost more, he had a lot more options for food. That said, the DDP is still too much food, and we had a hard time getting rid of all those credits at the end of the trip (we did use them though!).

There are some inconsistencies in CS places in particular. At CS places, kids get their entree plus a choice of two sides (applesauce, jello, grapes, or fries generally). Sometimes, the kids were allowed a choice of a packaged chocolate chip cookie, chocolate pudding, or sugar free jello as dessert. Some CS places gave us the cookie (our choice) in addition to the 2 sides, but some CS places said that we could have one side or a cookie. I could never determine the logic or application of this rule, so I got into the habit of asking everywhere what we got.

The adults were also allowed to choose a cookie if they wanted, which is what we did because they were packaged and easy to transport in our bag to eat later.

I just remember a few months ago, several people posted about being upset that the jello was the only choice for kids' desserts. Well, that's no longer the case anywhere we went.

TS was generally fairly consistent. We had very helpful servers at Coral Reef, Kona, 'Ohana, and '50s Prime Time who went out of their way to help my kids get selections they liked. I cannot stress enough how often, all you need to do is ask if you want something that's not specified on the menu.

And our service overall was excellent. I never noticed or felt slighted because we were on the DDP. In fact, the servers often made a point of telling us what was included and what would be more. If you're worried about tips being automatic and then causing you to have poor service, please do not worry! We honestly had great service in all 8 TS restaurants we ate at.

Thank goodness not just JELLO with the kids meals. :woohoo: It will make our trip so much easier (or at least our meals).:goodvibes

We also had very good service at our table service meals in 2005 on the DDP. Never had a problem and the staff was always more than helpful informing us as to what was included on the DDP.

Can't wait to go back. :santa:

Yes good to hear both about the kids desserts and the service being good - so thanks for sharing!!:)

HI,

I was wondering if you were allowed to order anything for DS off of the kids menu when he didn't like anything on the adult's menu? Were you charges an adult TS for that or did you pay OOP?
Thanks!

Thanks for the post. :goodvibes We've had the DDP 3 times now (4th time in just under 7 weeks!) and we've never seen a difference in service. Almost every single one of our TS meals (with only 3 small exceptions) have been great.

Good news about Kid's Meals too. My DD doesn't like Jello, sugared, or not.

Thank you for posting your experiences on the DDP. I am especially thankful for giving me the idea of asking for cookies for dessert at CS, they are definetly more convenient to carry around.:cheer2:

Adding in my thanks!!:thumbsup2 It's our first time on the dining plan and I was a bit worried about the quality of service. You've made me feel better now!!

Hi,

My oldest DS ordered adult TS meals. The servers were very willing to specify no sauce or to change sides, for instance. At Coral Reef, he had an adult order of mahi mahi with mashed potatoes instead of couscous (couscous is on the menu), and there was no sauce on anything because we requested it be left off. At Kona Cafe, he ordered prime rib but had no sauce on it either. If you're worried about selections being too fancy or adventuresome for a younger diner, I'd just ask the server. We had no problems at all and used the TS credit for him everywhere. At Mama Melrose, he had the chicken parmesan with sauce on the side (he liked the sauce anyway).

Lots of people complain about 10 year olds being adults, but my 10 year old was happier this year than he was last year when he was 9 and limited to kids' meals.

This is critical. There has to be a line drawn, and the key is to draw the line in such a way so as to bring about the best result overall. Invariably, that will leave some customers satisfied and other unsatisfied. That's an unfortunate fact-of-life in the consumer sector.

Thanks for the reply! We will be dining at Kona Cafe too so that is good to know! :thumbsup2 I wondered about the steaks with fancy sauces on them at various restaurants, so it's nice to know we can request them on the side and possibly substitute potatoes for some other "fancy" sides.

Your experience is just what I need. Can you tell me the ages of your children, I know the oldest is 10. Also, can you tell me what CS you chose?

I've been looking at menus all morning and need help choosing lunch places for my DD (8) and DS (5) as well as myself and DH for the four major parks.

Thanks for the info and opinions!!!
