Just returned Tuesday...some thoughts on the DDP with kids and service in general

Your experience is just what I need. Can you tell me the ages of your children, I know the oldest is 10. Also, can you tell me what CS you chose?

I've been looking at menus all morning and need help choosing lunch places for my DD (8) and DS (5) as well as myself and DH for the four major parks.

Thanks for the info and opinions!!!

I have two boys--ages 10 and 8, and one girl, age 5.

Here's where we did our CS:

All breakfasts and some lunches: Captain Cook's at the Polynesian
Epcot: Seasons in the Land, American whatever it's called in the World Showcase side
MK: Pecos Bill's, Columbia Harbor House
AK: Pizzafari

Just some random thoughts here...

Pecos Bill's made a grilled cheese (we paid out of pocket) for my middle son who will not eat meat. They put two pieces of cheese on a hamburger bun and toasted it. We paid OOP for that instead of using a CS credit because they only charged us around $2.00.

DD had chicken nuggets there, and the rest of us had adult meals. We all got the wrapped chocolate chip cookies because, as I noted before, they're easier to carry around. Columbia Harbor House also had the chocolate chip cookies we took to go.

At Pizzafari, if you're not happy with the kids' options (which do not include pizza), you can also use a snack credit for a fairly large order of breadsticks. We did that, too.

Seasons was very helpful at making a sandwich my DD wanted. They've got several kids' options to choose from.

It's very possible to share some items (like pizza) and then use those credits for breakfasts later in the trip. We also used lots of snack credits for breakfast items such as muffins and pastries.

I think I mentioned this before, but standard kids' sides were seedless red grapes, unsweetened applesauce, jello, or fries. Most places also had chocolate pudding and chocolate chip cookies as options. You get to choose two sides, though again, some inconsistency exists because at some places, we got two sides plus a kids' dessert, whereas at some places, we only got two sides, one of which could be a dessert if we wanted. It never mattered, though, because we had so many chocolate chip cookies left that we took them on the plane home.

All in all, I found the kids' meals a pleasant experience and an improvement over last year. Getting to choose the sides is a great benefit.

Also, if you are going to combine types of orders at a CS (one snack, two CS, and say part OOP), you need to tell the person working the cash register before they ring it up. They can only do all CS on one ticket. They have to do snacks on another ticket. Then if you're going to pay cash, they need another ticket. It's not hard, but you do want to keep that in mind when you're ordering so that you don't have any confusion or problem.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for letting us know this!
