It was all adults this trip. Myself, my 80yo father and aunt/uncle in their late 70's and first timers to WDW. We had breakfasts in the villa every morning but two. I was pretty good about saving the receipts this time so I'll give the total for Dad and I when I can. Totals do not include tip.

Saturday, January 29th

Dinner: We left Kentucky a day early as we were driving and wanted to miss an ice storm that was forcasted for as far south as Macon, Ga. For a measly $3 a piece we decided to add another day to our 5 day MYW passes and head to Epcot where we ate at Chefs de France . I had stopped my the restaurant earlier and got a PS. No wait. My aunt and I both had the french onion soup and the duck. The duck itself was good but the sweet potato puree and the haricot verts that went with it wasn't very good at all. Dad had french onion soup and the hanger steak and fries and said it was good but it looked like what you'd find at the local Golden Corral. My uncle had the French Menu and said it was very good. To celebrate our first night, Dad and I bought a bottle of wine for the four of us. We had an older French waiter from Italy who made my aunt swoon by kissing her hand. The bill for Dad & I including the wine was $110. Food B, Service A.

Sunday, January 30th

Lunch: Coral Reef We were doing Epcot Future World and hit The Living Seas around lunch time so we decided to give the Coral Reef a try. A first for all of us. No PS and no wait. We got a table by the tank and enjoyed watching the fish and divers while we ate. Dad and my uncle both had the Chicken Caesar Salad and both gave it a thumbs up. My aunt had a "fish of the day" type special and said it was very good too. I had two apps., the lobster soup and crab cake. The crab cake wasn't that good, but the lobster soup more than made up for it. The service was good but not memorable. Rate A- for food and service. Total for Dad & I was $32.36.

Dinner: Le Cellier We did have a PS for this meal and Dad and I were looking forward to dining here again. I had the cheese soup and the Mushroom Filet and it was so good. Dad got the Beef Barley Soup and Prime Rib and he was a little disappointed in it. He's used to cut prime rib with aujus and said he likes American prime rib better than the Canadian. My uncle had the Free Range Chicken and said it was good. Since my aunt ate pretty big for lunch she just got a salad and I believe some scallops which I think were new to the menu. None of us had cocktails this time. Service was again good but not especially memorable. Rating Service B+, Food A+. The tab for Dad and I came to $68.53.

Monday, January 31st

Lunch: Prime Time Cafe We were wanting a break and a little something to hold us over until our early dinner PS at the Brown Derby so we stopped in here. My seniors got a big kick out of this place and our waitress wasn't over the top, but she was good. Dad and I split the Clam Poor Boy and Fries and it was delish! My aunt had the chicken caesar salad and my uncle got the chicken sandwich and both of them enjoyed their meals too. Oh, I had to try one of the PB&J milkshakes and it was very yummy. I shared it was so big. Service A, Food A. Total for Dad & I was $21.49.

Dinner: Hollywood Brown Derby This was possibly the best meal of our trip. Our waitress was the Zurg's friend from Morocco but I forget her name. She was excellent with a fun personality and we enjoyed her almost as much as our meal. Dad had the onion soup and the Pork tenderloin with a big ol' glass of milk. I had an Apple Cinntini cocktail and the Grouper which was very good. I remember that my aunt & uncle had the Cobb Salad for two but I can't remember what else they had. It was probably because of the Apple Cinntini but it could be because my aunt accidently knocked her ice water over and it went in my lap!LOL I got my revenge later in the trip when I got them all on Splash Mountain.hehe We skipped desert here in favor of a trip to Beaches & Cream after Fantasmic! Service A+, Food A+. Total $72.86 for Dad & I.

Tuesday, February 1st

Breakfast: Spoodles We slept in a little this day and had a late breakfast at Spoodles and skipped lunch. Another first for Dad & I. Everyone had the All American except I had the Egg Rotollo. We all enjoyed it but Dad prefers fried eggs to scrambled and they only offered the scrambled. Still good. The waitress was efficent and personable. Service A, Food B+. The tab for Dad and I was $27.64.

Dinner: Hoop Dee Doo We had a pretty good time here. The only thing was that we had a table right in front of the piano & banjo players and it was a little too loud. The chicken and ribs were very good and juicy and everyone enjoyed the food. I didn't know this until that very night, but my aunt & uncle were celebrating their 54th anniversary with this trip. If I had known, I would've done something to really fix them up. They did the dancing with the other wedding and anniversary couples and my uncle got to give advice for a long marriage to the newly weds. "Agree with your wife, most of the time." Our waiter was kind of a dud although I think he tried to tell some jokes it was too loud to hear him. We didn't enjoy this as much as I'd hoped we would. I don't think I'll go back a third time. Service B, Food B.

Wednesday, February 2nd

Lunch: Tusker House We all had the chicken sandwiches and fries here. These are big enough to split but we each got our own as we were having a late dinner after Cirque du Soleil that night. Everyone enjoyed these juicy sandwiches. Food B.

Dinner: Jiko I had been looking forward to this meal for so long. I've actually made PS for Jiko two other times but never made it. Maybe I had too high of expectations but it was a little bit of a disappointment. For one thing, there was a very strong fish odor when we walked in which was off putting. I had the Butternut Squash Soup and it was okay but barely luke warm. It may have tasted better had it been hot. The rest had the Field Greens salad and they were huge but they were dry with only a little dressing on the plate like they'd drizzled the dressing on the plate and then put the greens on top. Even when they tossed it up a bit, the greens were still dry as there was so much of it. They had to ask for more dressing and only received a small plastic container half full to share between the three of them. They're not people who have to have their salads drenched with dressing either. Needless to say, they couldn't eat much of it. We all had the filet with mac & cheese, except my aunt who had the Monkfish. We all liked the filet with mac & cheese but felt that it wasn't anything special, certainly not worth the $33 price. My aunt wasn't impressed with her monkfish either. I tasted it too and didn't really care for it and I usually love monkfish. By the smell of the restaurant and the taste I wonder if they got a bad shipment or something. The best thing I had was the Appletini. We passed on dessert. Service B, Food B. The bill came to $118.74 for Dad & I. Soooo not worth it.

Thursday, February 3rd

Breakfast: Cinderella's Royal Table Pretty good breakfast in a fun atmosphere. This was my third time here and could do without it, but I'm always bringing first timers who want to do it. Great service and the characters were nice and spent plenty of time with us. Service A, Food B. I treated everyone and the bill for the four of us was $93.68.

Lunch: Ice cream treats from the Ice Cream Shop on Main Street in MK. Yummy! Uncle bought so I don't know the total.

Dinner: Grand Floridian Cafe While planning the trip, my seniors didn't think they'd like to spend much time in MK so I'd only planned a half day there. I had made a PS for California Grill but we were all having so much fun at MK that we decided to stay and enjoy the rest of the park and see Wishes. We went to the GFC around 4:30 and had french onion soup and hamburgers. They were huge burgers that no one could finish but hit the spot. Service B, Food B.

That's about it for WDW eating. We spent one night at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort on the way home and ate dinner at the Kingfisher restaurant next to the resort and it was very good.

Wonderful reviews and I love how you have the "cost" for the meals. Thank you!

Great reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Sorry about Jiko's. The filet and the monkfish are two of their ** entrees. Hopefully it was just a bad night--.
Was the service satisfactory??

Yes, the service was fine. I believe her name was Tiffany. And the food was good too. We just didn't think it was exceptional. I'll give it another try one day.

Sounds like you had lots of good meals, Jenifer. Too bad about Jiko. We've had mixed experiences there as well.

Do you remember how the grouper was prepared at the Brown Derby?

Did your father, aunt and uncle enjoy their Disney Dining?

Great detailed reviews! I was especially interested in your choices because I'm traveling with my parents soon (very soon!!). They're in their 70s and we're all getting excited about having a fun time together. Sounds like you had a super time and overall excellent dining experiences. Thanks for posting! :flower:

I appreciated your reviews as I am planning a trip for my parents in the near future. I was glad to hear of seniors really enjoying MK! YAHOOO

I was half afraid to post our feeling on Jiko because I didn't think anyone had ever had a bad experience there. And really, it wasn't bad, just smelled bad. I think that, the cold soup, and the stingyness with the salad dressing got us off to a bad start we couldn't fully recover from.

The grouper at the Brown Derby was broiled with asparagus and a yummy lemon sauce. Very light and flavorful. :cloud9:

Yes, Dad and my aunt & uncle enjoyed their Disney Dining. But after "fancy" eating for most of the trip that hamburger and fries at the Grand tasted as good as the rest.

travelbug & Mama2jasminANDcaitie, WDW is an excellent place for seniors to vacation as they're so accomodating. I HIGHLY recommend getting scooters for the whole week from one of the offsite companies. All three of my seniors admitted that they were a lifesaver and that they never would've been able to do it or enjoy it so much without them. They loved their scooters so much they said they missed them after we left. I may get my Dad one. I see them at auctions here locally from time to time go pretty reasonable.
