Before I "briefly"
tell everyone about my absolutely wonderful trip, I want to thank you all for helping me with my planning of my very first solo trip. I'm not new to WDW. But I usually go with DH and DS or my BGF. But this time DH had to work and DS just started college. And as for my BGF, her schedule didn't permit a quick trip this time. So it was just me.
I arrived last Wednesday at the Boardwalk around 11:30 and of course my room wasn't quite ready. It was quite hot that morning and I did remember to pack my swim suite in my carry on bag. So I headed directly to the pool and something cool to drink. Finally got into my room around 2 PM and immediately called bell services to see if the ME had delivered my luggage and it did!! So after a quick shower and change it was time to head over to Epcot. I toured WS and dinner this night was the Food and Wine Festival and I guess my waking up at 3 a.m. finally caught up with me and around 7p.m. I headed back to my room for a nice shower and a good nights sleep. Yes... I actually fell asleep around 9 p.m.
Thursday it was up bright and early and I headed into the MK for early entry and did all my favorite rides and then some. Grabbed some coffee and a bagel and stolled around my most favorite park. I have to say the crowds were not bad at all. Even as the park began to fill up I still was able to walk onto Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Pirates. Noon time brough me back to the Boardwalk pool for a relaxing afternoon of sun and swimming and then a nice nap. I had a ticket to MNSSHP!!! This was going to be soooo cool. Not only was I all by myself in WDW but I was going to my very first MNSSHP!!
I had a great dinner at Tony's Town Square around 5:30 and even though I was dining alone I was treated wonderfully. Ricardo was my server he was such a sweetie!! The MNSSHP was so much more than I ever could expect. No I didn't dress up; just not quite ready for that yet. But I had the time of my life. The Boo To You Parade was spectacular especially when the Headless Horseman road pass everyone. And I even went trick or treating!!!
It was the best. I still can't believe I stayed till the very end. It was great.
Friday I had wanted to sleep in a little but no way. I can sleep when I'm back in New York!! Off to Furture World in Epcot and a great morning. Later that afternoon I met up with a co-worker and his family. We all had dinner at the Crystal Palace where his two little ones absolutely loved all the characters. And his wife let him "come out and play with me" that evening after he helped put the kids to bed. She isn't a "ride person" and he is. So he and I hit all the rides he missed in the MK and that was proabably everything!! We did the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates, for ole times sake It's a Small World
then Mickys Magic Philamonic Magic(?) and then I let him talk me into riding the Tea Cups. Boy did I get dizzy!!
But we had a good time and I know he appreciated the company.
Saturday it rained but I grabbed my poncho and Mickey unbrella and headed into MGM after a nice breakfast at Spoodles. After Tower of Terror, and Rockin Rollercoaster I casually strolled through the Park taking in all the sights that normally I would miss being with others. I had a really nice lunch in the Si-Fi Dinner and much to my surprise had a great Reuben Sandwich. Same ole movies that I remember from about 8 years ago when I ate therer with DS who then was about 10. But again the service was great and I had the nicest server. Sure do wish I rembered her name. Sun finally came out around 3 p.m. so it was off to the pool for the last time this season. Dinner was at Spoodles that evening around 7 p.m. and I must say I was a little disappointed in the selections. I hadn't eaten there in about 3 years and do remember a more varied menu. I ordered a Greek Salad as an appetizer and I received something unlike any Greek Salad I ever had. No lettuce; rather what looked like watercress and shaved green peppers. The familiar feta and calamara olives were present as were tuscan peppers. Will not get that again. Entree was ok; pasta with lemon shrimp. Shrimp were abundant but it was ok. Desserts were again not what I rememberd and actually there were not many choices at all. I had what was called "Orange Chocolate Cake" and truste me. The name was better than the actual cake. But you know what...I enjoyed the company of my server Liz/Lynn can't remember her name exactly, and I do enjoy the atmosphere. Will I eat there again; probably not for dinner. Love the breakfast there however.
And unfortunately Sunday morning came all too quickly and the ME picked me up at 8:20 for my flight back to New York at 11:20. DH was there to greet me and while I had the time of my life in WDW, seeing his face immediately brought me back to reality and the family that I do love.
And as I write this I can say I have the best memories of the best trip ever, but I do look forward to more memories this June when DH will be with me on my 58th birthday which I will being celebrated in Walt Disney World!!! And will I get my Birthday Button????? You bet I will!!!!!!!!
