Before I "briefly" :lmao: tell everyone about my absolutely wonderful trip, I want to thank you all for helping me with my planning of my very first solo trip. I'm not new to WDW. But I usually go with DH and DS or my BGF. But this time DH had to work and DS just started college. And as for my BGF, her schedule didn't permit a quick trip this time. So it was just me. :thumbsup2

I arrived last Wednesday at the Boardwalk around 11:30 and of course my room wasn't quite ready. It was quite hot that morning and I did remember to pack my swim suite in my carry on bag. So I headed directly to the pool and something cool to drink. Finally got into my room around 2 PM and immediately called bell services to see if the ME had delivered my luggage and it did!! So after a quick shower and change it was time to head over to Epcot. I toured WS and dinner this night was the Food and Wine Festival and I guess my waking up at 3 a.m. finally caught up with me and around 7p.m. I headed back to my room for a nice shower and a good nights sleep. Yes... I actually fell asleep around 9 p.m.:sad2:

Thursday it was up bright and early and I headed into the MK for early entry and did all my favorite rides and then some. Grabbed some coffee and a bagel and stolled around my most favorite park. I have to say the crowds were not bad at all. Even as the park began to fill up I still was able to walk onto Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Pirates. Noon time brough me back to the Boardwalk pool for a relaxing afternoon of sun and swimming and then a nice nap. I had a ticket to MNSSHP!!! This was going to be soooo cool. Not only was I all by myself in WDW but I was going to my very first MNSSHP!!  I had a great dinner at Tony's Town Square around 5:30 and even though I was dining alone I was treated wonderfully. Ricardo was my server he was such a sweetie!! The MNSSHP was so much more than I ever could expect. No I didn't dress up; just not quite ready for that yet. But I had the time of my life. The Boo To You Parade was spectacular especially when the Headless Horseman road pass everyone. And I even went trick or treating!!! It was the best. I still can't believe I stayed till the very end. It was great.

Friday I had wanted to sleep in a little but no way. I can sleep when I'm back in New York!! Off to Furture World in Epcot and a great morning. Later that afternoon I met up with a co-worker and his family. We all had dinner at the Crystal Palace where his two little ones absolutely loved all the characters. And his wife let him "come out and play with me" that evening after he helped put the kids to bed. She isn't a "ride person" and he is. So he and I hit all the rides he missed in the MK and that was proabably everything!! We did the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates, for ole times sake It's a Small World ;) then Mickys Magic Philamonic Magic(?) and then I let him talk me into riding the Tea Cups. Boy did I get dizzy!! But we had a good time and I know he appreciated the company.

Saturday it rained but I grabbed my poncho and Mickey unbrella and headed into MGM after a nice breakfast at Spoodles. After Tower of Terror, and Rockin Rollercoaster I casually strolled through the Park taking in all the sights that normally I would miss being with others. I had a really nice lunch in the Si-Fi Dinner and much to my surprise had a great Reuben Sandwich. Same ole movies that I remember from about 8 years ago when I ate therer with DS who then was about 10. But again the service was great and I had the nicest server. Sure do wish I rembered her name. Sun finally came out around 3 p.m. so it was off to the pool for the last time this season. Dinner was at Spoodles that evening around 7 p.m. and I must say I was a little disappointed in the selections. I hadn't eaten there in about 3 years and do remember a more varied menu. I ordered a Greek Salad as an appetizer and I received something unlike any Greek Salad I ever had. No lettuce; rather what looked like watercress and shaved green peppers. The familiar feta and calamara olives were present as were tuscan peppers. Will not get that again. Entree was ok; pasta with lemon shrimp. Shrimp were abundant but it was ok. Desserts were again not what I rememberd and actually there were not many choices at all. I had what was called "Orange Chocolate Cake" and truste me. The name was better than the actual cake. But you know what...I enjoyed the company of my server Liz/Lynn can't remember her name exactly, and I do enjoy the atmosphere. Will I eat there again; probably not for dinner. Love the breakfast there however.

And unfortunately Sunday morning came all too quickly and the ME picked me up at 8:20 for my flight back to New York at 11:20. DH was there to greet me and while I had the time of my life in WDW, seeing his face immediately brought me back to reality and the family that I do love.

And as I write this I can say I have the best memories of the best trip ever, but I do look forward to more memories this June when DH will be with me on my 58th birthday which I will being celebrated in Walt Disney World!!! And will I get my Birthday Button????? You bet I will!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a blast! Thanks for sharing because I'm going on my first solo trip in Jan. and was wondering about dining alone. I'm really looking forward to spending 11 fun filled days at WDW!:woohoo:

Thanks for posting. I have my first solo trip planned for January and I keep flip-flopping between going and not going.

Oh I would definately go. I'd go NOW if I could. :thumbsup2 And depending on when you plan on going, you may still be able to see the Holiday Decorations. I hear they are just beautiful.

I'm going January 5th - 10th. I'm not a big fan of Christmas, which is part of the reason I'm taking this trip, it will give me something to look forward to and a reason to get through the holidays (We're a "blended" family so we never get to have a normal Christmas, there always seems to be some schedule controversy.) But I would like to see the Osborne Family light spectacular.

Now I just need to work up the courage to tell DH that I booked this trip and that I don't want to go with him or DD13. :scared1:

That was a heartwarming post MsWDW. Being a lone female makes you so nonthreatening that you could probably have always found company with families and other solo Disney fans if you had wanted it, even if your co-worker hadn't been there as well. Did you take advantage of the single-rider lines?

To be very honest with you, I really hadn't planned on meeting up with my co-worker. I know that sounds terrible, but I was having such a good time by myself that I really didn't feel that I needed to be with him. But when we spoke that day on the phone, I felt bad that he didn't have anyone to go on the rides with!;)

No I didn't utilize the single rider lines. I really didn't have any long waits to speak of until Saturday came. I literally walked right on all the rides.

thanks for sharing
im leaving in 4 days for a 2wk solo vacation - my 2nd solo, 1st time was one week
I will have friends joining me intermittently during my 2nd week at the world

Loved your quick trip report. I keep thinking I'd love to take a solo trip, but I know my family and a few friends would never let me do it. I just know they'd want to come along as well!

It's funny but it was DH who convienced me to go on the trip. Originally when I found out my best friend cound't go I was going to cancel. He's good for one trip per year and he had that this summer! ;)

Hey Linda! Glad you had such a great time! I went on my first solo trip in Sept. I was worried that I would get lonely, but I didnt! I can't wait to do it again!

Hi Glenda - Oh I'm counting down the days till I can make my ressie for next October at the BWV again!!! Loved it; loved it; loved it!!!!!! ;)

Thanks for sharing your solo trip with us. Sounds like you had a great time! Nice to hear that dining alone and doing ticketed events solo was comfortable. I think a lot of people worry about that.

I was looking forward to seeing the world solo, but just got back from a quick trip with my 3yo and came home worried that it wouldn't be the same without kids. I had the most fun watching his reaction to everything. Reading your trip report is giving me hope again! Just what I needed.

It's really hard to explain. But as much as I have always enjoyed having my family and/or friends along in WDW, this trip was like being there for the very first time!! I was able to "stroll" along Main Street in the MK. I actually sat on a bench and had a Dole Whip without having to run thru Adventure Land to get to the next ride. I walked around the entire World Showcase at MY pace enjoying each and every site.

Trust me; you'll have the time of your life!!! I can't wait to do it again next October!!:rotfl:

Thanks, Linda; very interestng. What is MNSSHP? I'm getting ready for my first trip ever and I will be on my own. How far is the boardwalk area from the AKL where I'll be staying? I'm planning to get in in the late afternoon on Dec 2, unpack and then wander around a non-themepark area (don't want to waste a ticket). Any suggestions?

MNSSHP is "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" which ended last week I believe. It's wonderful.

In order to get to the Boardwalk from the AKL I suggest taking a bus to Epcot then the boat or walk. It's not a long walk and the path is nice.

Another place is Downtown Disney and you have a bus that goes directly there from your hotel. When we are at Saratoga we go over there all the time. Great shopping and just a nice place to be! Have a grea time! Wish I didn't have to wait until June to go back. That trip will be with Dh then in October I'll be "solo" again!
