Just returned from the Poly. Any questions?

I had a volcano pool view (room 3603) on my last trip in 2005 and it was perfect. I could sit out on my balcony early in the morning and enjoy my coffee and paper before everyone got up. The view was fantastic, IMO and I was feeling blue when it was time to leave and go home. I would love to have a 1st floor room but being on the 3rd floor had it's advantages, especially when it came to overlooking everything. I'll be in a GVC room in the Hawaii building in about 22 more days and I can't wait. It won't have the view of the Volcano pool, but I'll take just about any garden view at the Poly over any other view at most WDW resorts. I just want to be at the Poly and I can't wait.

Thanks for posting about your visit to the Poly and welcome home!:thumbsup2

Thank you all for the welcome home! I can't wait to go back! It was hot and cowded but still magical!
It was a trip my girls will always remember. Infact we were choosen to ride the Magic Carpet ride with Aladdin.:wizard: He took the litttle one by the hand and asked if she wanted to ride with him. He was so great. They girls sat in the front with him and were telling jokes. He then took them off and intoduced my girls to Jasmine and Genie. Photo Pass took pictures for us with their camera and ours. It was great!

We are going to be staying at the Poly in 15 days! It wil be our first time ever at DW and we are SO excited!! I have been reading and I was wondering what Garden Grocer is?? We are planning on having breakfast food in the room and snack stuff. Is that something that I need to look into?? How do I get more information about it? My DD5 will love the crafts that you said they had in the afternoon...She is so excited about this vacation!! Ohh, one more question...what about the refillable mugs? Where do you get them at? Where do you refill them at? ... I feel like I'm asking 1000 questions..sorry... I am just starting to feel a little overwhelmed and SO anxious to be there! I know it is going to be so much fun, I just feel like I dont have a clue about anything!! :) Thanks! Ashley!

Welcome back!! I'm glad you loved the Polynesian :sunny: I'm also glad to hear that you experienced great service there too. We've always had very good service, also. :)

disneyfan67: See you in about 3 weeks! :thumbsup2

I never used Garden Grocer but if you google Garden Grocer and Orlando you can find it.
You can get the refillable mugs in Captain Cooks. That's the food court. You can fill them up there too. It's at teh back of the GCH and in front of the valcano pool.
You are going to have a great trip! At 9pm they have a cute boat parade. It's called the Electric Boat Parade that your little on will like. Teh first night the girls and I sat on the dock in ponchos becasue it was raining to watch. Also the fireworks are great to watch from the beach.
Enjoy your trip! Any other questions let me know!

Thank you! Everyone was so nice and wanted to make sure we had a great stay!

I'm glad you had a nice stay. We leave in two days!!!! and can hardly wait.

I do have a question for you: do the toiletries include separate bottles of hair conditioner? I'm packing and wonder if I should bring my own or not.

Last year we stayed in Samoa and loved the location too. This year we requetsed Tokelau because the rooms are larger and you're guaranteed a balcony. Also, we used Garden Grocer last year (www.gardengrocer.com) and were pleased with them as well. We ordered from them again this year as well--can't say enough good things about them.

The Poly is the best. Now my family refuses to stay anywhere else! That seems to be a common refrain with Poly people.

Thanks for your reports!

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. We will be there in September and can't wait!!

Thanks for all the info! We are arriving in just a few days for our first trip to the Poly and we were wondering how crowded the pools were for your visit?

Yes there was a separate bottle of conitioner and a separate shampoo. There was also shower gel and a body lotion.
Have a great trip!

It was crowded but to be expected with the 4th of July. It was tolerable. We only used the Volcono pool. It appeared the other pool was less crowded.
There was a fun spot next to the volcano pool for kids. It had water spraying out from holes in the ground. My kids had a blast with it!

Hi dancemomnj! I had to come back, you got me so excited about Poly that I am definately booking it and discontinuing my research on the other DR's!!! Does the Samoa longhouse have any balconies and an elevator?
Oh, this may be a rediculous question but, how do you PM? I am still fairly new to the boards and haven't posted in months up until now, so I;m still learning.
THanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will love it!
The third floor has a balcony. The second floor does not. The bottom floor has a patio. The patio was great to jsut open up the slider and walk out to a grassy area and then the pool. You can sit on the patio and see the pool. I requested either 3rd or 1st floor to have a balcony or patio.
To PM just click on my name and then it will say send a message.

Thanks I am going to request the same, 1st or 3rd floor. When do you think you may be returning to Poly?
I am so excited I can't stand it:woohoo:

I just wanted to butt in here and say not all longhouse requests are granted! We stayed there last year--our TA requested Samoa or Fiji and mentioned specifically that it was our 20th ann. and make sure it's special--we ended up in rarotonga. This was arriving 7/11. They said there was absolutely nothing available in those buildings I had requested. Of course I didn't want to move after one night. It turned out fine, rarotonga is a great location for the bus stop and GCH and we had a nice garden/quiet pool view, not the parking lot side. But I can't be the only one who never gets room requests!

I agree a room request is just that a request. I've written down all the pros and cons of each longhouse (except Tonga) so I'll have it at checkin just in case they say, "we don't have Tokelau but we have Tahiti" or something like that - I can look at my list and know right off the pros and cons. Just an idea for others.
