My family just returned from POR and we had a great time. This is our second time staying at POR and we would definitely stay there again. It is perfect for us because we are a family of 5 and the trundle bed is great for my little guy.

Some quick thoughts:

The fridge was great and wws plenty roomy for our purposes.

The room was in great shape.

Our building location (Bldg 36) is probably the worst location that you can have in terms of proximity to the food court and pool, but was still ok. The point I'm trying to make is that don't worry about teh building that you get, you will be fine.

The food court was running smoothly.

The boat to DTD was operating and very relaxing.

The bus service was fine. No waits more than 15 minutes.

Boatwrights was great for dinner.

The kids really enjoyed the pool.

If you have any questions I will try to answer.

We will be arriving in the World Saturday. Our last three nights will be at POR. My dd's are 6 & 8. What should we not miss at this resort for them? Are there things to do if it is raining? Where would you recommend eating in DTD the afternoon we do DQ?

Thanks. This is our first visit to this resort and I am very excited!

My boys are 4, 8 and 9. Their favorite thing to do at the resort is use the pool. They love the slide at the main pool. Other than that, we have never really taken advantage of some of the other activities. I know you can rent bicycles, an boats and get a carriage ride. Otehr people alos say not to miss the piano man, but we are usualy at the parks or in the pool.

As far as DTD, I've eaten at the rainforest cafe whcich the boys loved. We ate here on our last trip and they eanted to eat here again, but it is not part of the meal plan. We at at Planet Hollywood this time and everone thought it was great.

Glad to hear you had a good time. We are going to POR for the first time, in Oct. Also glad the pool is a big hit with the kids. The pools were critical in our resort selection, as my 5yr old DD loved the pool at AKL a couple years ago, sounds like she'll love this one too.

Note that the piano man in the bar is a hit with adults and kids - but he's not there Monday or Tuesday

asaj, When are you going in October?? We'll be there the first week and also staying at POR. This is our 2nd stay there, we love it!

For the poster who asked about activities in the rain, the only thing I know of is the arcade there. My DD's spent time there in December and really liked it. Its not huge, but plenty big enough for kids to enjoy themselves until a storm passes. Though, you'd have to walk there IN the rain to get there...and if I did that I'd just go to the parks and enjoy the lesser crowds.
At any rate, POR is a wonderful, charming resort with nice rooms and a great pool! Have fun to all who have future trips planned. :flower:

Thanks for the heads up on POR. We will be staying there July 31- Aug 7. This will be our first BIG vacation with the kids (7,5,5). I am so glad the trundle was good for your child. We are planning on putting the 7 yr. old in it and the twins together in one bed. I am also glad about the fridge. I plan on bringing granola bars, breakfast bars, small cereal boxes with bowls and spoons and buying milk. Is there a close place to by milk and juice? Also, can you get coffee in the morning? I just can't wait. Thanks again.

The sell milk and juice in the gift shop and at the food court, both located in the main bldg. The fridge is like a college dorm room size fridge, we were able to fit quite a bit in there. There is a coffee maker in the room itself with coffee and the fixings. I didn't make any during our trip but it was there and available. If you do decide to eat a breakfast other than the stuff you are bringing, give Boatwrights a try. They have wonderful breakfasts...Sweet Potato Pancakes with Pecan Butter, Blueprint Omlette (oooh sooo good), Banana Stuffed French toast with strawberry sauce (bananas bother me so I just saw it, didn't taste it it looked good and I'm pretty sure I heard lots of "mmm mmm" from the next table), Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids, and lots of other wonderful food.

About the bus service... was it a problem that POFQ gets picked up before POR? Were the buses crowded because of this or were you able to get a seat most of the time? I know some have said they happened to be closest to the very last stop at POR and it was a problem. Thanks!
Tink

ps. I have stayed there before (*Dixie Landings*) but it was in '97 and I don't remember much about the buses other than I found the service to be pretty good.

I'm interested in the transportation as well. Did you go to the bus stop at the main bldg or wait for the bus to come to your stop?

We always waited for it to come to our stop. They usually pick up at the south depot (main bldg), west, north, and east last. We never had a problem getting seats, but sometimes there were a few who had to stand after they'd boarded at the east depot. We always got out early and missed the large crowds waiting. In the evening the drivers wanted to pack the buses--I'm sure most every driver for every resort did this--and when people couldn't "move on back" farther, the driver kept yelling for them to do so. POR is a very beautiful, relxing resort. Kids and adults loved it! Have a great time! :flower:

shhh!!! don't tell too many people how great POR is, more people will end up staying there!!! ;)

Does POR have more than one pool, or is it just the one main pool?
there's the big pool by the main building, and a few quiet pools (no themeing) scattered across the resort.

5 quiet pools (3 in AB - informal, curved, 2 in Mansions - formal, straight edges).

We still like POR, but noticed this trip that the bus service was very slow and almost every bus was packed! On Tuesday we were heading to MGM mid-morning and waited at the North depot for 40 minutes for a bus. (During that time we watched 3 MK, 2 Epcot, 2 TL/DTD, 2 AK/BB and 1 PACKED MGM go by.) On Wed we went to DTD before we left and we waited 45 minutes for a bus and when we stopped to pick up TL people, some of them said they were waiting over an hour for a bus. It seemed like the bus stops for POR/FQ always had the longest lines.

Maybe we were always going the wrong direction! :rotfl:
