We just recently returned from our first trip home to BCV, and -- wow! -- what a neighborhood we "live" in.

We checked in on Dec. 6 and the studio portion of our registration (#339) was ready immediately (at 10:30 a.m). The two-bedroom (#333) wasn't ready till around 3 p.m. I had asked for rooms on a higher floor, but since I had also asked for the two rooms to be close together, I didn't try to get them switched. We were happy just to be near each other.

Room 333 is a dedicated two-bedroom villa and, although I didn't ask for it, the second bedroom had two queen beds, which worked well for us.

Both rooms had the woods/wetland view. At least, I think that's what you call it. Both rooms had average size balconies, and because of how we were located, the balconies on the studio and the 2-bedroom ended up being just catty-corner to each other (rather than side by side).

Room 333 is just a few doors down from the elevator -- on the right. Room 339 is a few more doors down and around a corner.

Water pressure and air conditioning seemed fine to me. In fact, it got so cool that at times we had to turn the thermostat up. My daughter and son-in-law, though, said it was much warmer in their studio. Perhaps my thermostat had been "fixed" and theirs hadn't??

We saw no evidence of trash in the hallways. One morning, we did see a clean platter sitting outside a door (perhaps from room service?), but no trash at all.

Both rooms were in excellent condition -- no issues of cleanliness at all. And, no signs of ants or other vermin. :smooth:

The only thing I did notice was that the dining room table had several "gouges" on its finish -- places where the finish had been "peeled" away -- and they were very noticeable, as though someone had taken a knife to the table. Later, I wondered if that was a "look" they were going for, because when we passed one of the "community" rooms on our many walks in and out, I noticed that the scalloped edges of the tables in that room had the finish worn off of them, as well. On those tables, though, it looked more natural. At any rate, the condition of our kitchen table did not diminish our love for the BCV one little bit. We had a marvelous time!!

The only kind of odd thing was that I asked for a hand mixer, and housekeeping acted like that was the strangest request -- almost like they didn't know what a hand mixer was. They asked if I wanted a bar mixer . . . or a blender. When I explained that I wanted a hand mixer, like you would use if you were baking a cake, they said, "Oh, no! They're never available, here." I started to let it go, but then I checked my notes. Yes, I take copious notes of things said here and on the DVC member website, and according to both, a mixer should be available. So . . . I called the front desk and explained my predicament, and they delivered a hand mixer in about 15 minutes. And, no, it wasn't new. It obviously had been around the whole time. We all chuckled . . . while we ate low carb pizza (what I needed the mixer for). The only reason I mention this here is so you will know that a mixer is available if you need one.

My daughter-in-law also asked for a crib, and it was delivered within 10 minutes.

Thank you, Doc, for your advice regarding NetZero. It worked like a charm! You have to love those .35 phone calls, and NetZero is very easy to use.

I just can't say enough good things about the Beach Club Villas. The Christmas decorations were beautiful, and the cast members we met were wonderful. The best thing of all, though, was our closeness to Epcot. It was amazing to me how quickly we arrived at the International Gateway. And, what a beautiful walkway it is, whether you go in the morning or at night.

Although this was our first trip home, it was not our first stay at a DVC resort. We had previously stayed at Old Key West and the Boardwalk. One evening we were talking and my son said, "You know, Mom, it's funny. We love each of the DVC resorts we've stayed in for different reasons." And, he's right. Each DVC resort is special in its own way, and I am glad we have the choice of all of them until 2042. We are lucky!

We're scheduled to go back Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 -- for the Food and Wine Festival and for Halloween -- and I had originally thought I might try to switch to the Boardwalk at seven months. Now, I'm not so sure, though. We really do love our home at the Beach Club Villas. All my worries before we went were for nothing. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

If you're one of those who are still looking forward to your first trip "home" -- relax! You're in for a treat!

Pat

P.S. Any questions? Just ask.

I'm with your son 100%. Thanks for the nice trip report -- glad you had a good "official" trip home!

Thanks for the report, glad you had a great trip!
I am confused why you were going to orginally swtich your Oct reservation from BCV to BWV. I would just keep your reservations at BCV. You have stayed in both BCV and BWV now and know from experience that there really is not a heck of a lot of difference between the 2. BCV is just as conveninent, matter of fact it is a little closer) to the F&W at Epcot. Plus at BCV you have SAB!

Thanks so much for the the great trip report. We too love our BCV home, but look forward to trying all of the other DVC homes over the years.

:D Sounds like you really enjoyed your stay. Glad everything was wonderful. These are the trip reports I like to read. After reading so many negative things about BCV I find this refreshing..

Welcome back! We can't wait till our first trip "home" to BCV this Feb.

Thanks for the review!

Hi Pat

Glad to hear you had a nice trip. Our home is BCV, have stayed there twice and had a great experience both time. Also stayed at BWV and think that is beautiful too. May be staying at OKW next August, a little nervous about that one since our three previous stays have been sooo close to epcot & MGM.

Watched the Disney Holiday Special on the Travel Channel last nite. Showed BCV, BWV, Animal Kingdom & the FloridianThe decorations were beautiful...can't wait til we can plan a December trip.

Did you see the life size gingerbread house?? and the Holiday carousal at BCV???

Before this trip, DeeP, I knew and loved the Boardwalk -- the villas and the atmosphere of the boardwalk, itself. From some of the trip reports I'd read, I wasn't so sure about the BCV. I was afraid we'd be disappointed.

Now that I've experienced the BCV, we probably won't make the switch. You're right! There's not a whole lot of difference, and the BCV is closer to the F&W at Epcot. But, you know what? I still really like that clown! ::yes:: I'm sure we'll be back at the Boardwalk, sometime.

Well, rats! I wish I had known about that show on the Travel Channel. I'd have loved to have seen it. The gingerbread house at the GF is beautiful. I couldn't believe the detail. They were giving out samples of the gingerbread shingles while we were there, and I have to say, they tasted as good as they looked. The carousel at the BCV is beautiful, too. It's amazing what they can do with gingerbread.

I worried about OKW, too, before we stayed there, but the minute I walked into the building where you check in all my worries went away. We had a two-bedroom on Millers Run, right near the bus stop -- building 19, I think -- and we absolutely loved it. The rooms are so spacious and sunny. You'll be amazed at all the room you have to spread out.

You always hear how bad bus service is there, but honestly, we thought the service was terrific. I think the longest wait we ever had was 10 minutes and usually the bus was there waiting for us when we walked up or came immediately after we got to the bus stop. I didn't miss having a car at all.

I look forward to going back to OKW, someday. It's a nice break from the parks, and you really aren't that far from anything. I think you'll have a terrific time.

Thanks for the detailed report!
Your assessment of BCV matches ours from our two trips home. I really think 95% of experiences there are just as good, but we get to hear a lot about the other 5%.

I've seen the Samantha Brown Holidays show twice (I never get tired of watching her). I only remember her viewing decorations in the BWI lounge. If someone wants to think of that as part of BWV, fine; but I don't think she showed any part of BWV proper. (We always talk about BCV and the "regular" BC!)

Yes, #339 studio is a woods-wetland view. I had that studio last year and absolutely loved that view. When I went this year, I got the much-sought-after Epcot view, and although the view of Illuminations was better this year, overall I just loved the peacefulness of the view from #339 much more. Just to let you know, I tried to ask for "woods-wetland view"this year, but MS said "there's no such thing!" Told the front desk at BCV, and they said "Just tell them to put it down-we'll understand". That's what I plan to do next year-love that view!

It was good to see your note, Simba's Mom. I thought I'd read somewhere that there wasn't a woods/wetland view, but I didn't know what else to call it. I wonder what MS thinks it is. It sure is peaceful. Other than my family members who were in #339, we didn't see anyone else out on the balconies at all.

Thanks Pat for posting!!!!!

I am not too worried about our first trip home in Feb, but it is nice to hear the GOOD reports!!!

Way not to get hung up on the "height" of your room. As you said, the rooms were close, and that is what really mattered.

Thanks again for the detailed report.
