Just got back this afternoon from six nights in one-br villa at BWV. What a treat! My DH and I kept saying to each other, "This is the best money we've ever spent."

Anyway, I just wanted to make a few observations: We stayed in a preferred view and got the Boardwalk (which we'd asked for in July). Shad (who checked us in) warned us several times that we would hear noise in the room he was trying to put us into. I appreciated his concern -- he wasn't the friendliest castmember I've ever met at WDW, but he was efficient and concerned with precision. He also got us the most terrific room I could have imagined. We were in 2009, right above Big River (kind of between there and the DVC offices). Yes, we did hear quite a lot of noise, but it reminded us of where we were and actually added to the magic. (It also usually died down by the time we were ready for bed.) If I were not very tolerant of noise, though, I think I would not ask for a BoardWalk view.

We enjoyed the fact that we were not far from the pool -- just a quick walk down the hall and one flight of stairs. Our DS (age 5) fell in love with the rollercoaster slide. He preferred it to the slides at Blizzard Beach!

We fell in love with sitting on our balcony every night at 9:00 to watch the fireworks from Epcot. Also, it was fun to watch the dance party down at Atlantic Dance Friday evening. (I was even tempted to do some dancing on our balcony, but I didn't want to embarrass DS and DH. :p )

We laughed a lot about the distance from the elevators to our room. Couldn't say we weren't warned!

Bus service was very spotty. We didn't get a bus for EE in MK until 7:20 a.m. (We got down to the bus stop promptly at 7:00. There were others that had arrived earlier. We were a none-too-happy bunch when an already full bus arrived at 7:15!) We and a group of others hijacked a bus bound for Coronado Springs to Downtown Disney one evening. It was a fun, group-bonding experience.

The boats were great -- very reliable and frequent. And it was nice to be able to walk from place to place. (Walked over to YC/BC and to Epcot.)

Once again, thanks for all your advice and encouragement. We feel so happy with our DVC purchase. We can't wait to share it with friends next year! Please let me know if you have any questions I can help with. (And forgive my ending a sentence with a preposition. I'm just too tired to be correct this evening!)

It was fun reading your "trip report"! I can feel your excitement, and can't wait until my first DVC trip in November (5 days OKW, 2 BWV, unless the BWV waitlist comes through).

Who does BW share the buses with??

We always stayed at the BC, so I was surprised (and happy with!) how excited my kids were when we saw the BW pool when we took the DVC tour!

And exactly how to hijack a Coronado bus to Downtown Disney? Sounds like fun! ;)

hi: glad you had a good trip. now your'e spoiled; you won't want to go back to a studio.

MaryAnn -- The bus situation was strange. Sometimes we shared a bus with Swan/Dolphin and YC/BC. Other times it was just YC/BC. We determined that when we shared with Swan/Dolphin it was easier to just get off at the Swan and walk back to our room from there. (Same with the boat coming back from MGM.) I'm still not completely clear on how the buses run, but they DO run rather poorly right now. (It was clear to me that Disney is doing some experimenting with their bus system now. I guess since bus-on-demand was such a major failure, they're scrambling.)

Anyway, we hijacked the bus like this: There are numerous buses running back and forth from BW to Coronado Springs. (This became a running joke at the bus stop waiting area -- there were four Coronado Springs buses -- all empty -- before the MK bus arrived on early entry morning. They run buses between the two resorts because of the conferences held at both, we were told.) There were about twenty of us waiting to go to DD, and no bus had shown for at least 45 minutes. When the third Coronado Springs bus showed up, several people walked onto it and demanded that the driver radio for a DD bus. He did, but one still didn't show up. The driver was VERY sweet and said if one didn't show up in the next five minutes, he'd divert to the Marketplace and do a drop off. He was SURE one would be along. Ten minutes -- and no buses -- later, still no bus. So, he took a bus-load of us to DD. It was a truly Disney kind of experience and not too frustrating for us since we weren't on any kind of a timetable that evening. (Incidentally, we caught a bus back to BWV within 5 minutes of our arriving at the DD bus stop.)

Sorry so long. We had a great time!

Great bus story! :D

For being such an obsessive compulsive, anal retentive planner such as I am, some of the BEST times we've had were unplanned, and we had a few fun bus experiences. (NOT the waiting part. ) And I love when there's a "bonding" experience with other vacationers. One bus driver had us singing songs, answering trivia questions. These are the things we remember and talk about the most.
