Just returned from Fantasy today

Did you actually get penalized the $200? Or just lost the OBB benefit (discount)? October is past the extended deadline for using a pre-Covid OBB, but the $200 should just roll-in with the rest of your funds to go towards the new cruise. No discount but no loss of actual funds paid.
Not sure. I need to read through the official statement. My TA was told that we would lose our OBC, but we didn't have any OBC. We had a placeholder that we booked in March 2020, but we were also sailing Concierge so it was really just our $200 since there were no discounts. I will have to look closely at the paperwork to see.

Ah, you were Concierge. Your OBC was the placeholder benefit, because concierge doesn’t get the 10% discount they get OBC. Other categories get the discount and no OBC. Regardless, you shouldn’t “lose” the $200 as it should roll-in with all funds paid.

I think they mean $200 is the OBC (ie not fund they paid but the bonus for booking a placeholder). The deposit to book a placeholder is $250, not $200, and is applied toward the cruise fare and would be refunded.

Oh, right! I forgot the placeholder is now $250. Thanks!

Ok....this makes much more sense now. Thanks for the explanation. Now I know what to look for on the paperwork!

Are all tables private? Do we have to put it on our reservation that we don't want to sit with other people?

It wasn't rumors. Guest services messaged me through the app on Monday that we would be going back to Castaway Cay on Friday. Every crew member echoed this. Servers. Cabin steward. Granted, no ship announcements.

We knew through mere logistics on Wednesday it would be impossible to return to CC on Friday with the abbreviated stop at Costa Maya. The weather on Friday coming around Cuba up to Port Canaveral was beautiful.

I'm sure there was some reason we didn't return. We knew the itinerary had changed from Eastern to Western before we boarded. Then the port days changed again after we boarded (flipping CC from Friday to Monday). Just a little information high level on the changes and what was going on would have been more in line with what we have grown accustomed to with DCL.

Correct - it wasn't a rumor. This came straight from Guest Services on board when we asked why we were only getting a few hours at one of the stops. They confirmed that we were going to Castaway Cay on Friday and the itinerary would be updated soon. It was so disheartening when we realized it wasn't happening and no one was actually addressing it or updating us.

Previously you could request but not be guaranteed a private table. And perhaps because of Covid, a private table will be the way of the future. I think it depended largely on how crowded the ship was on the week you were there.

I have a feeling that with all of these people wanting their own tables, that they are going to push more people into late dining. I think that anyone who wants their own table should automatically be put in late dining unless their is space in main dining. Some of us can't eat dinner that late and are just fine sitting with others. In normal times of course.

It’s not a matter of what anyone wants, disney is keeping all parties separate at dinner.

I know, that is why I said in normal times. But the trend has been that more and more people are asking for separate tables. I don't know how they could possibly go to that concept unless they put in another seating. Should be interesting.

OK, and? That was the whole point of my post, that some people want to have their own table. The only issue is that there is not enough room in the dining rooms to have all individual tables. The tables will be so close together that you might as well be at the same table. Not to mention that they would have to buy all new tables and then every cruise and dining room, arrange them to fit everyone's different party size, every night because you rotate dining rooms. You can see how that would be a big PITA for them. That is why I said that, since late dining is much less busy, that it would be easier to accommodate people who want their own table at that seating.

But they already did redo the tables to have mostly individual ones rather than large ones, so it would be a PITA for them now to go back. They even removed the teacup tables in EG that they used to give to concierge to have more room to rearrange the tables.

The rumor was that they were going to add a third seating once capacity went up. Something like early dining around 5pm, middle dining at 7, late at 9.

But there are so much fewer people on the ships now. When they go back to full capacity, what do you think is going to happen? Have you been to main dining when the ship is full? Every table is taken up. They will probably have to add a third seating or have those who want their own table eat at late seating. I don't know how they would manage it any other way. I wonder what they will do with solo travelers. They usually put us all together at one table.

I know, that’s why my post said they rumor was third seating. In fact the comment card/survey at the end of the cruise changed to refer to a third seating. So it was a little bit more than a rumor.

I would be all for the 3 seating times and happily take the earliest one. My stomach does not do well eating late and even main dining is pushing it a bit for me.
