Just returned from Fantasy today

That sounds really frustrating.

Thanks for sharing your honest feedback.

Glad u are happy with ur cruise op. I would have been very frustrated with the cost lack of cruise communication and overall value. Imho I think it’s DISgraceful there was not a single comp to those onboard.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about this cruise. We're set for the 7 night Eastern SWDS at the beginning of March and this definitely helps us reset our expectations on what to expect..

As for SWDS, that is pretty disappointing to hear. Does anyone know if they've done the Vader takeover on any of them recently?

shoot - we're still on-board for the 2/5 EC cruise. I'm sure it will change, but things have been moving in such a dramatic fashion, I still have hope we'll be able to get to a few of the scheduled ports...

I’m sorry. We go on our first cruise in April. I really hope things turn around by then. I’ll be pretty upset if our Eastern becomes a Mexico cruise. Eastern costs more than Western 100% of the time.

This is my issue. Booked on an eastern in early March and right now I don't think there is anyway at all we are going to St. Thomas so it will likely turn into a Western but apparently Disney isn't adjusting costs accordingly.

March is a long way away, in virus time. Omicron is peaking now, actually just past its peak in many places. A month+ from now, it could very possibly be in steep decline.

No way to know for sure, but there's a very reasonable chance that St. Thomas could be open to cruises in March. It could go either way, really, so it would be premature for Disney to assume otherwise at this point.

I have never found that to be true. Cost differences between 7-night Easterns & 7-night Westerns on the Fantasy are about the sailing dates, not the itinerary. By far the most expensive cruise I ever sailed was a 7-night Eastern on the Fantasy over New Year's, and we sailed in an oceanview. That cruise cost significantly more than even our June Alaska cruise in a Navigator's Verandah. Likewise, I've seen other Easterns closer to spring break or summer cost more than the previous week's Western, and vice versa.

we were booked on the fantasy eastern itinerary, but would have preferred western! Took that itinerary b/c it fit our spring break dates. I was concerned about missing port days generally plus other issues. Otherwise, I’d have been happy w/ the reroute.

Well, I haven't checked prices in over a decade, but that used to be the norm. The Western was always cheaper than the Eastern. This is back when the Magic alternated Western and Easterns, and the Westerns before and after the Eastern week were always cheaper.

I wonder if 7 months after the restart whether we have reached the point where cruise lines are going to be less flexible with continued reduced capacity and reduced demand. This may be the first such case for Disney. Carnival made some changes, that after next month, it will be harder to get a refund if you choose to cancel. And they said masks/testing/vaccine requirements will remain in place for the "foreseeable future ", their choice of words. And casinos will remain non-smoking, and drinking in the casino will require you to dip your mask for a sip then replace it. You can't be maskless.
Sounds like they are shifting some of the financial risk back to the passengers who choose to cruise during a pandemic.

That's all fine.

Just slash the price by 50% for the potential inconvenience/disappointments.

Everyone on the ship wanted to know why we would bother going to a port for a few hours. It didn't make sense to anyone. Just don't bother at that point. Some in guest services said it was so we could go to CC our last day. Others in guest services said that wasn't correct and it was never in the plan to try CC again. Never got a straight answer.

We were on this sailing. I contacted GS through the chat feature and in person.

I was assured through the chat that we were going back to CC.

I then stopped by the GS desk on our last day to emphasize our disappointment in not at least trying for CC on the final day.
Weather was beautiful yesterday. I enjoyed the cruise but the communication was lacking.

Pretty sure the percentage of passenger disappointment in missing CC far outweighed missing Costa Maya.

Regarding the testing tents at the port … are there bathrooms available? I’m guessing there are but My DW and MIL can get a bit of anxiety induced IBS and waiting for the test results may be a trigger. Thanks!

Restroom trailers outside the tents.

Nope, we didn't get anything.

that’s disappointing. Dcl inconsistency is crazy. the current 3 night was modified from Nassau/castaway to dropping Nassau and they got a sea day, (plus castaway) $200 obc and a 20% future cruise discount. We are booked on an eastern in 5 weeks and we would not be happy if we got a similar cruise like yours. our only option is to move it, take the cancellation penalty with us, or cancel only within 14 days with a covid issue. Im So sorry to read your report.
