Just returned from CORONADO SPRINGS: Any Questions?

PEPPER MARKET:
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food although the “mood” of many of the employees put a bit of a damper on things time & time again. And we were certainly not the only guests who noticed-it was a complaint among many. :confused3 And check-out seemed to take longer than our meal several times. Yet a good experience none-the-less. :thumbsup2

I have to say, that was my complaint back in November. The checkout was particularly frustrating in the morning when you want to get to the parks.

We don't really mind if we get towel animals or not since we don't have small children. It's always fun to see all the different towel animals other people get when they pose them in their windows.

Thanks for your great responses! :yay:

...and when you want a quick-meal-to-go before heading to the airport! Yikes! :scared1: I gave us plenty of time to grab something (using our last CS credits) yet it took so long I was just about ready to drop the bag and run for the DME bus! Yet I do not want to discourage anyone from the PM-all in all it was a great place. :upsidedow

onto the service...The place was basically empty with our server only having two other tables besides us. He started off as the perfect server. Yet as he walked away, he turned and asked if we were on the Dining Plan. After we said yes, he smiled and walked away. That was the last time he ever came to our table although he was standing close by at the server station during most of our meal. He asked the next table that was seated after us the same thing yet they siad "No, we are not on the dining plan." Man, I kid you not-they were treated like Royalty while we never got refills on juice or coffee and our dirty dishes were never removed-still piled up when we left. :sad2: Just wanted to add that we have been on the DDP 3 years in a row now, including the free Dining Plan and never thought until now that people were treated differently on The DDP.

I wonder if this is becuase he knows that the tip is included on the DDP but since he is not employed by Disney, maybe doesn't get to keep it?? So skipped out on you guys because he new that he wasn't getting a tip regardless?

Anyway, thank you so much for all of the info! We are headed down to CSR in 78 days for the first time and I am BEYOND excited! I was going to request to be in the Casitas, but then a bunch of people told me that the Ranchos are really nice too so I'm just going to let the nice people at the desk decide for me.

Thanks to Buzz as well for the unofficial site - that helped me out so much when I was making our resort decision!

I would think that the server, whether or not a Disney employee, would get the 18% gratuity. Our receipt did note that the 18% was included in the tab.:confused3 Even if this was true, he should not have assumed, especially since we are generous tippers. Just ask the server at Raglan Road who we generously tipped in cash in addition to the 18% tip that was already included. ;)

You will be checking into CSR in 78 days? How cool! :cool1: Letting the people at the front desk decide where you will be is cool. :thumbsup2 And let me tell you, those folks were fantastic!!

Thanks for your review!! I'll be there for the first time in December and can't wait. :goodvibes

Ohhh, I bet December just can't get here soon enough, huh?! ;) If you have any questions about our recent experience at CSR, just ask away! :upsidedow

glad you enjoyed. Our family loved CSR this past March. We had stayed in other moderates but so far this is our favorite. I love the view from the room and the grounds.

Room was always clean as well. I hate to say it, but I loved the room better than WL.....

I will definitely go back

I agree completely-the view from our room as we opened our door each morning was such a wonderful way to start each day in Disney! :upsidedow :upsidedow

I've been reading all the posts with great interest because yesterday my mom and I upgraded our resort for our September stay from POP to CSR. We are very excited!

I was wondering about the CMs at the Pepper Market who kept asking people if they were on the dining plan. (We are on the dining plan.) What if, when asked this question, I simply said, "No, we are not on the dining plan." It seems to me that since you don't pay the server and you don't pay until you exit, that the server doesn't really need to know whether you are on the dining plan or not. It seems to me that the servers are just asking this to determine what level of service they want to put forth. To me, this is disgusting behavior! (Poor service is my #1 pet peeve!) I don't see what the big deal is anyway; isn't PM the only food court where they automatically add in a 10% gratuity anyway? If the server is going to get a tip regardless, then what does it matter if I am on the dining plan? Anyway, what are your thoughts on just telling servers like these that you are not on the dining plan, then presenting your dining plan card to the CM at checkout?

In my experience (9 trips to CSR), I've never had any bad experiences or bad service with the staff at the Pepper Market. They have always done exactly what they are suppose to do. Your server gets you drinks, refills, condiments and coffee, clears your dishes and table, the rest is up to you.

There's always lots of wait staff running around. If by chance someone didn't come back to refill my soda, then I would make sure I called someone over. If by chance I didn't get the service I thought I was entitled to because of the gratuity, I would speak to a manager. They will remove the 10% from your bill if you speak up and let them know you felt it was not deserved.

I don't see how being on the DDP would make a difference at the PM since you don't pay the server and the gratuity is included at checkout.

ps - I've never been asked if I was on the DDP at the PM but if you have any issues, your best bet is to speak to the manager.

During our recent stay, I do not remember being asked if we were are on the DP at The Pepper Market-only at The Maya Grill. And the only time it came up at the PM was at the dessert station when WE asked which items were available on the DP (because I knew from the DisBoards that there were only certain items available) Have a wonderful adventure, JSDisneyMommy! :wizard:

Is the hot tub over by the main pool? I read that it was a nice size is that true, I've never seen it in any of the hotel pictures. Do the refillable mugs have different colors tops so you can tell everyones apart? Does the room come with a hairdryer? Thanks, Linda :)

Although we never used the hot tub, we did see it when at the main pool and yes, it was quite large as there were quite a few people enjoying themselves in it. If my memory is correct, it was in a little area all it's own with chairs, surrounded by tropical trees and such. :thumbsup2

The hot tub is by the main pool but it is secluded. It is the largest hot tub on WDW property, holding 22 people. Pics on my website.

All the tops are blue for the mugs.

Yes, the rooms have a hair dryer.

Do the refillable mugs have different colors tops so you can tell everyones apart?

All of the refillable mugs we saw were the same-same CSR logo and same color top & handles. If you happen to bring along a sharpie for character autographs, maybe you could "mark" each mug on the bottm to tell everyone's apart? Just a suggestion! ;)

Does the room come with a hairdryer? Thanks, Linda :)

Yes, there is a hair dryer in the room. However, I have found drying thicker hair can take quite a bit of time using dryers at Disney resorts. If that pertains to you, bringing your own hair dryer might be a good idea. ;)
