Just Returned from 4-Night Wonder- Any Questions?

Great info

I have read the double dips usually only happen in the summer.

We're cruising on Thursday for the 3-night. Just wondering what the weather is like at this time of year? Should we be bringing more long sleeved shirts / sweaters with us? I only packed two!

It's always cool in the evening, especially on deck with the sea breeze blowing! A sweater should be fine.

We only brought one jacket each. But we had the forecast for our trip, and it was to be mid to upper 70s each day, sunny, and mid 60s at night. I only wore the jacket once. So I would recommend one jacket for sure, and then check your individual forecast right before you go to see if you'll have anything unseasonably colder.

apparently canadian's have to hand over our passports and we don't get them back until we return (could never get a good answer to why they take them ) so what happens at Nassau? guess we can't get our passports stamped can we.

I had heard that the rule for Canadians had changed. My DH is Canadian but he has a green card and we live in the US. Nobody took his passport (although they did have us check in in the American line so I'm not sure if it's the same for all Canadians)

This might be a good question to ask in the main forum because maybe other Canadians have travelled recently and would be able to let you know how it would work for you. The best thing would be if they didn't take your passports, but if they do maybe you could still ask if you could have it back for getting off in port...I think it is strange they take your passport for any reason, the whole point of having one is to have it WITH YOU in foreign ports, not locked away on the ship. I hope it works out for you.

Does anyone know if they have posted Easter events for 2009 yet. The main board still shows 2008.

Just got back last night from a fabulous time on the Wonder for a 4-night cruise. Planning on doing a trip report soon. In the meantime, I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have!

Trying to book for March on the Wonder but the problem is that all of the first dinner seatings are booked up. I have a 4 year old so that would be bad. If one has the later dinner seating, how easy is it to switch for at least some of the nights to the earlier dinner seating?

I would ask this on the main question forum so someone who's had experience changing dining seatings can give you advice. I've always had 2nd seating by choice so I don't know how hard or easy it is to switch. I do know that you can't switch for just 1 or 2 nights, your dining rotation and time is set for the duration of the cruise. Good luck!

We are generally early diners at home, and have tried both seatings on the ship.

When our son was 5, we had the late seating. It worked out better than I expected; however, it took some planning on our part (naps, snacks, etc.). A couple of times, he fell asleep at the table. Out Head Server put 2 chairs together and covered him up with a table cloth. Sounds weird, but it was really ok. We loved our tablemates and serving team, so overall it was good.

The next cruise we were waitlisted for early dining and found out at check in that we had gotten it. I will say, that for us, early dining was easier. Our third cruise, we did not clear the wait list and went to WaveBands once on board. We were lucky, they were able to move us into early dining.

Since then, we've either gotten early dining at the time of booking or have cleared the waitlist prior to the cruise. I do feel like we've been really, really lucky with the changes. I know that they cannot make it happen every time for every one. We're a small family, so that may make it a bit easier.

If you decide to go, hope for the best, but keep an open mind. Had we moved out of late dining on our first cruise we wouldn't have met the absolute best Head Server we've ever had and the wonderful tablemates who we are still in touch with 4 years later. If you can't get into main dining, there are other options if you need a night or two "off" from late dinner. We really enjoy Topsiders/Beach Blanket for dinner. It's table service, but casual.
