Well, we had another absolutely wonderful Christmas at WDW. Just thought I'd share that we finally scaled back the gift giving, as we had been planning on doing for several years but never seemed to accomplish. Our 3 kids got one big gift the weekend before our departure: video Zune for teenaged ds and digital cameras for younger ds and dd. We also celebrated the holiday with family at home, but exchaged fewer gifts and of much less value than in the past. I had planned on doing small, WDW-oriented gifts each day for the kids; but it really wasn't necessary. Other than a Pal Mickey on our first full day, we didn't do any other surprises before the 25th. However, we did let the kids pick up more small, inexpensive souvenirs than we usually allow. On Christmas morning, the kids each found a different small plush Mickey, Pocky Sticks from Japan (my children are addicted to this really cheap snack!), a $25 gift card, and a couple of other child-specific small gifts bought in the Disney shops. This was a HUGE success. On past Christmas mornings, our very spoiled children would be overwhelmed by the number of gifts they received. Dh predicted that they would be disappointed with just stockings, but they were not at all!!! The kids especially enjoyed spending the next couple of days deciding how they were going to spend their gift cards. I didn't think we were ever going to get out of DTD yesterday afternoon.
