Just requested Samoa at Poly. Any experiences with this longhouse?

I'd love to hear comments from any of you who have stayed here.

We stayed there last July. It's nice and centrally located. Our room had been recently remodeled.

We were, unfortunately, put on the second floor which means we had no balcony or patio. Also, we looked out on the quiet pool which was an OK view but not the best because just outside our window was some type of equipment being used for either landscaping or something along those lines and there was a large pile of dirt and service area right there as well. I think we got the lousy view for the building. I can't remember the room number.

But all in all, we loved the location! Have fun.

My sis and I stayed in Samoa (first Poly visit) in Feb. We had a room on the Volcano pool side, and when we looked at our view, we thought it was a lagoon view, it was so nice!! We were third floor, and if I stayed Poly again, not concierge, I'd make the same requests I did then! We so enjoyed that view!!

Loved Samoa. We had the first floor facing the Vocano Pool. We could walk right out our door and into the pool. The kids LOVED that. There are pictures of the view from our room on Tikiman's site.

We have stayed at the POLY too many times to count and specifically in the Samoa building our last several trips to the POLY. It is our favorite SV/GV of any WDW Resort.

We always request Samoa, Volcano Pool side, ground floor and have received it our last 5 trips to the POLY. :thumbsup2

Good Luck!

We were there just a few weeks ago and were placed in Samoa. We could not believe our luck in getting such a fantastic location! We were on the second floor (and slightly sad that we didn't have a balcony but we probably would never have used it anyway...) with a view of the volcano pool. It was amazing! The best part was the VERY short walk to Captain Cooks to refill our resort mugs with coffee in the a.m. So close that we never used the in-room coffee maker!

An added bonus to our location was being able to see the beautiful sunsets... I took way too many pictures :rotfl:

I will always request Samoa in the future when staying GV! :thumbsup2

Samoa is second only to Hawaii for us. The first floor, volcano side of the building is fantastic (you can walk right in and out of the room to the pool and Captain Cook's). This was our favorite standard view room we have ever had.

We loved Somoa we have stayed in that building on a couple of occasions facing the quiet pool on the ground floor. it was a great location. In the morning I would go get my coffee before anyone was up and sit by the quiet pool. Very peaceful. Looking forward to our next rip and hope for the same location.

Thank you all for your comments! I noticed that most of you requested a room facing the volcano pool, I didn't think to do that, but maybe I should.

Samoa is our favorite too. I always request ground, lst floor, volcano pool view. We got it once. Our ds loved it and just remember to close your shade for privacy with the people walking by. We also had the 3rd floor once and while the room itself was nice the view was absolutely horrible. We had the last room all the way down the hall, closest to the exit and you could use the stairs instead of walking all the way down the hall to the elevator, but our view was of tree tops and the hawaii 3rd floor I think. Worse, our neighbors decided to smoke on their patio, very bad with our ds asthma. I talked very loudly and said, oh I thought this was non smoking etc. Glad to know the resorts are all that way now. Also bird poop could be an issue, just look before you sit etc. You will love the Polynesian.
