Just received a phone call

I guess about age 6 my kids wanted to RSVP themselves. Most of our rsvps are from the kids themselves too.

You will get a kick out of this or (maybe not). But las t week we were away on vacation and my 7 y/o would sit out on the balcony talking to her "boy"friend. ;) Either he would call her or she him. One day I had to tell her to hang it up as she wa on it over 1/2 an hour. :lmao: from Nevada to NJ.

Maybe I fidn it weird cause this is the first time it has happen. I told the girl that my dd will call her later tonight when we get home.

I know this will be the beginning of no more phone usage for mom anymore!!!! How old until she will be asking for her own phone line?!!

Kids skip their own phone lines these days... thats so 1990's lolol... she will be asking you for her own cell phone next year:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Also I would expect the parent to call to RSVP, not a 6 or 7 year old.

Another reason why I find it odd is that I could not hear her. I only her ask for dd and then her saying her name. If a parent was near then maybe they could have taking the phone. I dont know maybe I am the weird one.

:thumbsup2 I *hate* that the kids are doing the RSVPing. I never quite know for sure if they truly asked their parents or if they just want to come to the party so of course they are saying "Yes, sure I can come". The not being able to hear doesn't surprise me....kids sometimes talk extremely quietly on the phone. My 10 year old still has trouble understanding some of his friends on the phone (I get to hear him going "What? What are you saying?" type of things where I know he's not hearing them.)

I know the kids do it though as it happened throughout my DD's grade school years. Now, I have had it when the kids said they were coming, they did but it always made me really nervous to wonder if the other parent really knows.

AND what just happened to me is why I would rather talk to a parent -- a little boy just showed up looking for my 6 year old -- the mom was in the car, I was :confused3 , so I went to talk to her & she asked if it was OK, that she thought it was all set-up (I have never even met her before!). Ummm...No! I'm sure the BOYS set it up all by themselves but no parent was involved in that one. We just made a time up for Friday.

Well, I find it odd that she called my cell phone. Both numbers were listed. Maybe she did call the house phone I would not know cause I am at work. Also I would expect the parent to call to RSVP, not a 6 or 7 year old.

Another reason why I find it odd is that I could not hear her. I only her ask for dd and then her saying her name. If a parent was near then maybe they could have taking the phone. I dont know maybe I am the weird one.

I encourage my dd to call and RSVP to the invites she receives. They have to learn to do it at some point. I always stay close by and listen, but I have her do it. I think its good practice. Its not just practicing the manners involved in accepting an invite, but also the use of the phone. How to dial, ask for someone, leave a message, etc.
