Just purchased, should I cancel and do re-sale instead?

...not to mention that I'd rather buy about 200 VWL points.

Our guide said we had until this Friday to cancel and our downpayment would be refunded. Should we do that and look into resale instead? We are in no hurry.

VWL is the smallest DVC. (what are the numbers? ~130 at VWL vs. ~800 at SSR?) If you want to stay there, buy there either through DVC or Resale. If you have children you will end up going during popular times and may not be able to easily get into VWL. If you have the time resale is not a difficult process.

OT--where was the pix in your signature taken? - this is the exact thing our 4 yo DGS is waiting for on our trip in 2 weeks. He said we had to do MGM first to see the Power Rangers - although now he has found out Kim Possible is also there that may change

The Power Rangers are on Streets of America at MGM -- right before you get to Lights, Motor, Action. HTH!

On Sunday we just bought 150 points at SSR with a December use year-- we're hoping to add on points in the next year or two. We were told we would be given the points from December of '05, even though we would only have to pay annual Dues for one month of that use year-- so this December we would have double the points. My question is-- will they let me bank those points (since we're not going until January) from the 2005 use year since its obviously way past May (the month I need to bank my points)??? I'm on a countdown until MS opens (13 minutes) to ask this question, as well as seeing if there is any availability for our January trip. Anyway, I don't know why you wouldn't have the same deal-- are you sure you don't??? We also got the $10 incentive.

I'm sure we don't have that same deal -- I will call right now to find out if we can get it or I will back out. Could I ask you who your guide was in case it helps to mention it?

Dina,

I just called our guide and he said he we couldn't get that same deal. He said if he could look up the deal you got, maybe he could find out how to get that for us too -- I will PM you to see if you mind giving me your name and your guide's name?

Thanks,
Josette

We did have closing costs (which surprised me), they said that all new members would have closing costs now-- but as stated previously, it was only $200.

It sounds as though you may be getting December 2006 points if you will only pay for one month of dues. Otherwise, you'd normally pay prorated dues from
your purchase date - in this case almost 4 months of dues. If you only pay one month, that would likely be for the 2006 dues you will get on December 1.

Did you possibly get Developer Points to use by the end of the year? That has been one of the incentive options for those purchasing one of the Phase III units as a presale.

Either way - WELCOME HOME!

Nope, I just got through with my rep-- I was totally mistaken (by the way, you are right, I'm getting December 2006 points). He was explaining that we could still do the two bedroom because we would be getting December 2006 points, and then we could borrow 2007 points. My husband understoon and just explained to me this morning (after I talked to the rep)-- well, they both explained to me. I am so sorry that I caused more confusion-- I was mistaken-- I am not getting 2005 points. We did ge the $10 incentive. Again, I'm really sorry I caused more confusion-- I really thought we were going to have 300 points. It all worked out anyway because we are taking a break after the next trip, and probably will be adding on soon. But, I'm really sorry-- it was a little confusing for me, and I misunderstood. Luckily my husband's a little more sharp then I am.

Dina -- thanks for clarifying!

Everyone else -- thanks for the continued input! We're still trying to decide what to do.

Even though I know I messed up earlier, we were also really trying to decide between resale or direct through Disney. That extra 12 years really made the difference for us. Think of what hotel rooms are going to cost in 2042-- though its so far away now, that 12 years really was a big deal to us (even if we can't enjoy it, our kids can).

Stick with SSR. The quicker we get it to sell out, the quicker the next DVC resort will be announced.

VWL is the smallest and hardest to book at 7 months out. If you really want to stay there I would recomend cancelling and looking for resale if DVC direct if they have any.
The best advice is always buy where you want to stay.
