Ok, I did it. I am going to get in so much trouble for buying another camera. I currently have the Sony Cyershot ( I forget the model) but its the very small compact one. I am just not happy with it. Half the time pictures do not come out clear and are fuzzy, its definitly not good for night pictures.

After reading reviews all over the web I just purchased the Panasonic DMC FZ7K 6mp Lumix Digital Camera. http://reviews.cnet.com/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_FZ7K_black/4505-6501_7-31684200.html
The reviews were great compared to some fugi's I was looking at and the price was right $267.00. It has image stabalization built in which I was looking for. I am by far not a professional photographer but love to take pictures and hope to get better at it.

We are going to Disney next week for our wedding and wanted a good camera to take good pictures of friends and family. Hopfully it will take decent night shots compared to my sony. Its a once in a lifetime event so I am trying to justify why I need this camera.

If anyone out there has this camera or knows of it please tell me I made a good decision. I looked at the Cannon's but the price was a little high for me at this point in time.

Any advise I would appreciate.

Thanks!

We got a DMC-FZ7 about 6 mo. ago and took it on a WDW trip. As long as there is plenty of light, it takes outstanding photos! The 12x zoom and image stabilization are particularly good. The flash is OK, too. Dim scenes get pretty noisy. We don't use much above ISO 80. This is just what the reviews say, as you have discovered, I'm sure.

As something of an exception to the above, if you set the camera on something solid and use the timer you can get interesting images of night scenes. We spent an evening running around Epcot doing this.

In fact, we just bought the large Panasonic model in the same line.

Good luck

The very best thing you can do to improve your night photos for any camera (especially point-n-shoots) is bring along some sort of tripod, Gorillapod, something, to allow you to take longer exposures.

Unfortunately, pretty much every PnS out there has disappointing night performance. That's just the way it is... a tripod will make a huge difference.
