I just place my order for a Canon 40d! I have been without a camera for almost 8 months after the last one broke. Can not wait to get it later this week.

I have the d60 but i did tell a friend to get the D40. She likes to just take pictures but like my pictures. the 40 will be great for her.

i'm so far happy with my 40d. if you have any f2.8 lenses , imo you can really see the difference in the focus system( at least from my rebel xt) and i love the burst speed. it hasn't been very hard to switch over since most of the buttons that you use without looking are in the same area as they were on my xt, only one i keep hitting wrong is the "af on" since it's where the ae lock was on my old one.

I had a D60. It was my first DSLR. It was stolen back in 2003.
