Just off The Dream... Pretty rough seas!

Thanks for posting this, we're trying the new Carnival Vista next summer. I'm really looking forward the Guy's, Blue Iguana breakfast burritos and the Italian place for the pasta bar at lunch.

Did you use the Carnival Hub app? What was your experience with it?

What was your experience in the MDR like?

Thanks!
I think that you will really enjoy the Vista. We really liked CCL. Our ship had been redone with most of the FunShip 2.0 features. You will LOVE the Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana Cantina. Make sure you get the tacos as they make the tortillas for them them fresh there. Also, these items are included on CCL where RCCL charges (i.e. Johnny Rockets). They also had an Asian stir fry station that was really good as well.

One thing CCL does really well is get the entertainment staff interacting with the guests. Our cruise director (Jaime Dee) was one of the best we've had. Honestly, most of the times on other lines, I don't even notice the cruise director (except for Brent, we really like Brent too).

We downloaded the app and used it to see what was going on, but didn't use the chat feature, so can't comment about that. Seemed similar to the DCL app.

MDR, like most lines, was hit and miss. Some nights were better than others. Their melting cake dessert is fabulous.

My daughter really enjoyed the Waterpark and Ropes course.

You wil have a great time.

It was still pretty rough last night. I'm sure things were rocking and rolling. Looks like it will be a little calmer this week.

We were on the Fantasy and Thanksgiving night was crazy! Our captain did a great job as well at keeping us informed. You know when he makes an announcement at 11pm to stay indoors things are about to get really bumpy. We felt safe and it was definitely an experience to remember although I prefer a smooth ride!

We were on the Fantasy and Commodore Tom came onto the speakers (in the cabins) and told us about the rough seas ahead. The map on the TV showed 70 mph and the cruise director indicated swells 17-20 feet. There were numerous times when the pools were closed because of the ship swaying. Probably one of the roughest I have encountered (other than sailing out of Vancouver on the Wonder a couple of years ago). Castaway Cay was lovely. On Friday evening Commodore Tom indicated that we would have a rough patch again - felt it but nearly like Thursday evening.

Believe what you wish. Roll your eyes if you wish. I have the pictures and the memory. In fact, I have a video. No need to be like that. I can go on about the waves completely covering our deck two porthole but you won't believe that either. Just stating a fact that we love riding the waves.

edited to clarify that all wave riding has been on the classic ships. Never encountered anything on the Dream.
I wasn't be snarky, but waves of water and not spray leaving the pool hitting deck 10 sounds like an exaggeration to me. That is quite a distance and the pool would be empty of water fairly quickly.

Waves hitting deck 2 portholes is expected during heavy rough seas.

For people that are saying that 8800 is a lot, look at the time of year. (June) For the summer months, pricing is higher then say October. From experience, the double dip in July we were on , was about the same price we paid for the Fantasy in a 1 step up cabin in Oct.

As far as the weather, this time of year when a cold front comes thru Fl, it travels into the Bahamas and further south. Depending on where the Gulf Stream is, how fast its moving, etc will dictate the size and frequency of the waves. Winds in the 50s and better are not uncommon over the oceans where there is no land to break it up or slow them down.
