Don't know if I can answer any questions...? but, I'll try......

Have definite ideas now about some things......

Don't buy the 7 day wine package..... Some nights you might prefer a Margarita or other drink instead..... One night DH & I doubled up to get in 7 bottles during the week & he got very drunk & passed out!!!

Loved the Brunch at Palos, but don't recommend the Dinner. I really enjoyed the dinners & the diningroom & our waiters & tablemates. Enjoyed alone time w/DH, but I missed the diningroom rotation, too!!!!

Basically, busted our buns to get all ressies when we got onboard..... BUT, we noticed none of the activities we reserved for were filled up in the end!

Ladies, one formal outfit & 2 semis (capris, etc) were quite adequate..... You could even bring 2 different shirts to wear w/ your capris. 2 nice outfits & maybe a princess dress for each kid.

You can do it easily w/out doing laundry. I did wash bathing suits & some underwear once in the tub & hung up. No probs.

Didn't use that shoe organizer at all. The entrance to your cabin is very narrow & I feared it'd be in the way. The 4 of us bumped into eachother lots in our Cat. 8. Also, the bathroom door is very narrow, so you'd need a thin organizer, if you use one.

Don't wear Pantyhose! It was no problem going without it. I don't think anyone noticed. And btw, I wore "nice sandals" instead of pumps or any nice shoes.

The only shoes I found I needed the whole cruise were: nice sandals & flip flops. I brought others including tennis shoes, but if your excursioning, you won't do THAT much walking & blister.....
Therefore, I found I didn't need my tennis shoes at all!

Bring your own blow dryer if you need to dry your hair FAST. Otherwise, if you are not in a hurry, the cabin one is fine.

Bring some adhesive/suction hooks to stick to shower tiles & mirrors. With 4 people we quickly ran out of places to hang our many bathing suits where they were outta the way!

Remember walking in ports, that your clothes will often come back drenched with sweat........So, ladies, bring extra bras unless you don't mind rewearing sweaty ones......

You should also HANG UP these sweater shirts/shorts, b/c if you put them in your dirty clothes hamper they'll never dry & mildew everything! Also, know that some days, you'll only wear a bathing suit - so you might be able to wear some shirts/shorts twice. One sea day I actually got by in my capris & shirt. I was inside so much w/air conditioning that I didn't sweat much.

You don't need to bring extra Wine/Liquor unless you're a big drinker. We drank every night but found 1 - 3 drinks in the evening were plenty.

Also, many of the excursions supply water/punch for you - so you'd not need to lug bottled water with you unless you're going to be outside a long time. Ask ahead of time.

Bring the lightest camera you can & least stuff out on excursions.

Get a family portrait on formal & semiformal nights. Ours is excellent! - I only wished I'd coordinated the outfits better & had everyone's hair dried thoroughly. I'd not realized how good the shot would be. We ended up purchasing 5 copies for relatives!

Know that tea/coffee/lemonade are free all the time on Deck 9. You don't need to buy a soft drink or anything at the Pizza/Dog/Taco bars. They won't remind you of that.

Ask for Fitz as a server if you get LAPLAPL. Big Jamaican & wonderful. Tell him Allison & Caroline miss him.... & let me know if you do end up with him!

What else can I answer? I'll try to post here, if you have specific questions for a recent traveler.

Thank you for your report. I am bringing my mum, sister and daughter over to Orlando in December and taking them on the 3 night Wonder cruise on 4th Dec.

Its our first ever cruise so I'm reading as many reports as possible to pick up as many tips as possible.

Little things like suction hooks for hanging up wet swimsuits, pasting a picture on the cabin door so that DD10 can quickly see our cabin and not get lost, ordering sandwiches from room-service and putting them in Ziplok bags for excursions.........all great ideas !!!! I'm going to start writing them all down so I don't forget.

Thank again.

I really like your brand of trip report!!!Awesome!!!!

Movies playing?

Well, I can't remember all of them, but there were MANY playing.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Holes
"that one with Reese Witherspoon"
.....
and many others. I bet they had 15-20 ones in all, many repeated at different times.

Only caught the end of "Holes"..... If you want to ask about a specific title - it might ring a bell as to if I saw it on the schedule.

And, of course, many of the classics & kid movies repeated on the tv.

I love the suction hook idea! I use them all over my house, but I never thought of taking them on vacation!

Thanks for the report. I am making a list of tips for our group of mostly first timers and you gave great ones.

We had Fitz as our waiter last June and LOVED him!!! Very professional and very friendly. We were going to try and request him in Novemeber when we are back.

Thanks for the report.

With the wine package you can take the bottles home that you don't drink....or at least you could the last two times I have cruised.

We were told we could take our unopened wine bottles home with us. We decided when we purchased our package that if a bottle was not opened, we would leave it to our server, which we did and he was delighted! If this was a 7 day, I'm sure there would be nothing left - woo hoo Our wine followed us throughout the ship. Don't be afraid to ask for it. We did. Of course we had our wine at Palos but also asked for it in other places. Try to look at my DH and tell him he can't have his Merlot, etc. etc. They will take every chance to get you your wine even if it is not at the dinner table. That was our experience at least.

Don't forget :

Bathing suits in day bags for on board swimming
Highlighters for multiple family members
post its - for notes re: "FYI - eating on deck 9, be back in 30"
zip lock bags - all sizes
extra trash bags - dirty clothes, wet clothes, sandy stuff , lots of use
Sea sick pills (just in case take to first dinner)
Snacks and drinks for kids everytime you step off the ship
(Castaway Cay excluded)
Entertainment for kids on the last leg of the trip - game boys, snacks and water, the wait can be long at the airline counters outside the pier.

Thank you for all of the great tips! I have just booked the Christmas Cruise on Magic Dec 20-27th. I'm curious about the formal wear. For women, are you talking long, formal gowns? Or would a nice dress do? What about for teens? Should we bring prom dresses? Or--would short, but dressy dresses do? (Like semi-formal)? Any other tips for a first timer? It's so overwhelming!

Thanks all
Dawn

I was so excited to see that Fitz is still there! We had him as our server in Oct 2001 for our honeymoon cruise and we never thought he'd still be there. How can we request him as our server? We leave in two weeks on our third cruise, this time with our family. We would love for them to experience Fitz as well! Do we just call the cruise line now to put in our request? Thanks!

Formalwear: For ladies: there is a spectrum from very nice (church) dresses to glittery formals. If you have some long flowing gown, by all means take it. If not, long, dressy, maybe bare sholders with a wrap - all are suitable.

For teens: by all means wear those prom dresses again. I mean, how many wears do you get out of them? And they look great in the formal pictures.

There will be some people who ignore the fact that it is formal or semi-formal night but how often do you get the chance to really dress up? You paid a fortune for this vacation -- do it right!

I love short and sweet and to the point ...Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Duct tape ... so many uses.

I put my over the door on the wall hook by the closet ... worked for us (just 2 people).

OMG Fitz is the best ... hope to get him on the 10-11 Cruisetoberfest. I actually was hoping he'd had been promoted by now.

:( :smooth: Does anyone have any help solutions for someone whom wants to go on the disney cruise, but is terrified of being out on water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!are you way out in sea, or can you still see land, also do you get sea-sick? thanks nana:o

Thanks for the report! I picked up some good tips!!:D

Welcome Dawn!
Yes, a nice dress would do very well. And definitely a prom dress would make good use out of an otherwise "stuck in the back of the closet" dress!!! Hey, anything goes!

Personally, I like the floral dresses with a little shawl to dress it up.

Don't wear panty hose!!! It's too hot and sandals look just fine - no one will be checking out your feet!!

Best hint/suggestions is to remember to relax and enjoy yourself!

Rae

FYI - on the wine package you can also split the cost with another person, they will break up the cost per room.
