Just noticed tax difference at Disney Resorts...

I was just working on our bi-annual Disney trip reservations and noticed that the All-Star Resorts charge a 13% tax rate on rooms and the rest of the Disney Resorts, including POP, charge 11.5%. Why the difference?

I think I had read before that they are in different counties. Not 100% sure but I think that is what was said.

I think I read one time that Pop and the All Stars are in separate counties, and the counties have their own different tourism tax rates.

Well that would certainly make sense...I always thought that Reddy Creek was the quasi governmental body that took care of WDW on a whole. Even though the WDW property is huge at 47 square miles, I had no idea that WDW was split up in to different Florida counties?

RCID does take care of WDW as a whole, however for guest sales tax purposes, the tax laws of the respective counties apply.

That is correct, The All Stars are in Osceola county which has a higher tax than the rest of the property which is in Orange county. The county lines are really weird in that area (to get to work I have to drive through Lake, Polk, Osceola and Orange and it only takes me 15 minutes to get to work).
