just need a quick vent - irresponsible pet owners

Since she was so taken care of I wonder if her owners are away and someone else was supossed to be caring for her. Of course you would think they would look for her, but if it is a young person they may not want to let anyone know they screwed up and are are not experienced enough to know where to look. We actually had a "dog sitter" in our area that constantly "lost" her charges and never searched for them! Anyone that did their research knew not to use her, but she constantly advertised on craigslist so people keep using her. She would wait for the owners to come home from their trip and tell them then. She never wanted to ruin the owners vacation! Really?! So sometimes it would be a week or more before anyone looked. I haven't seen or heard about her in awhile so not sure what happened to her. Just a thought as to why no one has shown up yet.

I hope you find this poor dog's home, I hate to hear these stories. This part of your post just made me chuckle, though, as if the kids are just another species.

I have one like that, too. One time he got out accidentally and DD came home and found him sitting on the front steps. We didn't even know he had gotten out. Ever since then he doesn't go near the door.

LOL - I meant I have a full house. I should have added my husband in there as well, he's the other species.

exactly why I wanted to wait before just taking her to the pound. Their dog could be dead before they even got home from vacation! The animal shelter's here are kill shelters.

So we took the doggt to the no kill shelter today. We didn't have any luck locating her family. It just breaks my heart. Not to mention I now have three very sad girls, who are of course being very over dramatic and bawling like the world was ending. But, they also just realized that Daddy is leaving tomorrow morning for a long time, so mix those two together and it makes for a very looooooonng weekend. Sigh. I don't envy myself right now. lol
