Hi there, I hope this is in the right thread... my husband, 5 year old son and I booked the Yacht Club for mid May. My parents are also going for half of the trip with us (staying at Port Orleans). We really only need a few staples to get us by the week (snack items, and cases of beer, wine for the adults after our son goes to sleep). We plan on eating most of our meals at the park. Everything I have read on here caters to larger families with multiple kids. We have planned on taking the Magical Express, but do you think it would save us money to go through one of the local grocery deliveries, or take a town car for our limited grocery expense? Or, does it just make sense to buy our items on disney property since we don't need a lot of supplies? Thanks in advance for whatever advice you have to offer!

If it's only a few items I wouldn't bother with delivery or renting a ride just to go to the grocery. I usually just pack some snacks in our luggage and get beer and stuff at the Hess. I was amazed the first year we discovered Hess! We were paying about $6 per beer at the store in the Boardwalk, but once we found out we could walk across the street, we paid less than $10 for a 12 pack!! They don't have a huge selection, but enough to make it through a week.

The few staples you list, at Disney prices will scare you...beer is over 5 bucks a bottle....let alone wine....

Most delivery services have a minimium order plus delivery fee.....don't think you'll make it as alcohol is excluded......also plus tip...could be expensive for you...

Car services run 100.00 and up round trip plus tip but most include a grocery stop.....seems to me like the better deal.....personal service pick up, grocery stop, and return....we prefer the car services but we come by train and no ME is offered but the grocery stop is what sells us.....sandwich makings, snacks and "alcohol"....big money saver over Disney's prices (pool bar draught is 5+ dollars and mixed drink at 9 bucks.....

Yeah ME is free but the other alternatives might be the cheaper route over a cab, delivery service etc....do the math on the delivery service with what you need to reach their minimium then include the booze...

Also read on here about a company called booze or beer run...they do alcohol......

Again, the Hess stations on property or very close to it...sell staples, beer and I believe wine....we never used them but others will help out that have....good luck!

Check with gardengrocer.com. We used them our last 2 trips when we used ME and had no car. Their minimum order is $40 and I THINK you can get alcohol from them if you are in the room to accept delivery. We didn't order any so we were able to have it delivered before we even arrived. If you don't think you can spend $40 in food, they also have sunscreen and toiletries that you could order rather than pack from home. We used them for diapers and it was really handy.

You can get soda and "fun foods" at the Hess mini-mart. I think you can also get beer and maybe some wine. It might be easier to just pay Disney prices for a couple of bottles of wine at your resort or in EPCOT. Just remember to pack a cork screw.

edited to add I'm not sure which items are stocked at the Hess near Boardwalk but this should give you an idea.

Thanks everyone for the tips! I agree that our total might not justify the need for delivery service if alcohol is not included. I will check into that. I also appreciate the link to the hess website, I hadn't even thought of that! My dad also thought we could possibly get some wine at the Orlando Airport before we catch the Magic Express. I'll have to inquire about that too. I wish the airlines didn't charge for bags, it makes it so much more complicated!!
