I do have some SSR points that I bought largely to book treehouse villas when they were the same point costs as 2 bedrooms there. Well, points have changed, and I'll plan on using my SSR points at the 7 month time frame, not a problem.

I'm going to Epcot's F&G in late April for 5 nights. There will be 4 of us & I booked 2 studios at BWV, so i am set. Today I wondered if I could get a 2 bedroom there instead of the 2 studios because I thought of another friend who may be interested in coming. Well, BWV had nothing, but the THV were available for the whole 5 nights.

I think DVC overestimated the demand for the THV. What do you think?

Bobbi:)

Yes I think they did create too big a differential, along with the novelty wearing off and the parking/transportation issues.

It's nice to see some availability at the 7 month mark.

Unless the THVs are going totally unbooked for points on a regular basis, I'm not so sure the reallocation was overdone. I think we need anothe ryear or two of history to really know.

I know I loved our family stay in the THV and would spend the points to do it again. Next family stay though is in a 2 br at Kidani Savanna V with 7 adults and a 2 year old in October. It'll be packed! We'll need that extra bath! :lmao:

The DSs decided to tag along and are bringing one friend who has never even flown, so I am booking a lock-off since they will probably visit ESPN, and DTD and other 21+ activities. Dire consequences to them if they wake up my grandbaby!:scared1:

Are the THV more points to book than a regular 2 br????

Initially they were the same but a fairly recent points reallocation raised the THV significantly.

Agreed. I think they've really stretched it by raising the points on the THV.

We have had 2 THV stays, they do suit our family, but not at those point values!

We stayed at THV before the point increase. We loved the place and the space we had. After the revision of points, we will not stay there again. We do not see the point increase worth what you get. the novelty was great and I am glad we did it. But I will conserve points and pick a 2 bedroom somewhere else.

:thumbsup2We also loved our stay there and did so before the point increase - it was actually one of the reasons we bought SSR. We will not choose to stays there again. We will be happy staying in a 2 bdrm. We cannot justify the point increase. I wouldn't have minded a smaller increase, but the jump in points is too big in our opinion.

I think that their stated reason for the increase was stupid.

I also dislike the fact that DVD used the "three bedrooms for the point cost of a 2 bedroom" in their sales spiel and as soon as SSR sold out, they increased the required points.

Yes, I remember that spiel.

I was very interested in trying a THV, but not at the higher pt values. I was wondering what would happen to availability and I think you are all right, it is going to be ever easier to book them at current rates.

Does anyone think instead of raising THV costs (and lowering the reg 2BR), they should have lowered costs to stay in the Carousel section of SSR? I have read numerous SSR threads and never found one with a pro for that section. It seems to be no mans land out there. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a 'value' or 'standard' pt per night option at SSR? I feel like that would add more of a demand to SSR, as would a better pt deal on the THV...

Of course they would have to make other pt costs higher to make that work. DTD views a guaranteed category and go for higher pts maybe?

I'm hoping to get a THV for our December trip....so here's hoping the points increase put enough people off :)

Well we wanted to stay there something fierce, 6-8 of us (1/2 kids). Having your own little treehouse in the woods, your own BBQ grill, the bunk beds! I waitisted 3 times without luck!

Now, it's not a case of novelty wearing off, we've outgrown them, the boys (usually 3-4 who vacation with my son, all 16yrs old, avg. 6'2"/6'3"-160 to 235 lbs), no longer fit in those bunk beds! And guess what, I'm not sleeping in them either!

From your post to DVC's ears! Having garnered the dismal Carousel location 2 times in a row, both times the parking lot/guard gate view, I could not agree with you more! They should equip the villas in the Carousel area with Segways! Up to this point I had never made DVC requests. Now I request Congress Park, DTD view and to date, 3 times, it's been granted!

Arrive at SSR late, no requests, guess where you're going! No pixiedust:, don't collect $200, staight to Carousel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

And that's the plan I would presume, to even out demand. Not only is it reasonable to do so, they have an obligation to reallocate if the demand is too far off. It would likely have been better had they simply made the THV a separate resort rather than folding it into SSR.

We've discussed the possibility of booking categories at SSR here many times. It is my opinion they should do so but keep the points all the same as is true at OKW and BWV preferred. That way you know where you are and are not and while it does complicate room assignments in some ways, it helps in others.

If I remember correctly, that was Disney's excuse for the point increase.

I don't get it, why do they care based on demand and how does increasing the required points for a stay help the owners/system when we book first come first served.

Based on demand Christmas should be the highest points and during F&W, BWV and BCV should be higher than other resorts.

Seems like they pick and choose, maybe they have other reasons.
