I just returned from Disney and flew down on airtrain and came back on Southwest and even though I had absolutely no problems with southwest and was even given an "A" boarding pass thanks to the check in people at the contemporary since we were having dinner at Chef MIckeys and went down and asked if they would print them since I was at my 24 hour check in time. And they did even though I was not staying there! ( thank you!!) I just have to say that I prefer airtrain! The plane was much much quieter! We were basically in the same section going down and comming back,, but airtrain was much quieter and they took off early once they realized everyone was there! Would I fly southwest again yes, especailly with the ding fairs,, but airtrain is a much quieter ride and a nice clean plane .And you have to love the option of getting your seat at 24 hours, versus "praying for a A boarding pass........ IMO.......So, if you have doubts,,, please give airtrain a chance...

thanks for the post, we are doing the same thing on October 22nd - flying out of Pittsburgh to Orlando on Airtran and returning on SW. It is my first time with Airtran so I am pleased to hear you had a good experience with them. We are staying off property so I am going to have my mother back in PA do our check in from her home computer and then get our passes printed at the airport when we arrive. Hope you had a nice trip. Our little town near Pittsburgh is Grove City.

We have also flown both and slightly prefer AirTran (as you can upgrade to business class easily). But the difference between driving 1 1/2 hrs in Boston traffic for AirTran versus 30 minutes with no traffic to fly SWA makes the decision easy! But if AirTran ever came to Manchester Airport we would use it.............P

We are doing the opposite route. Flying down on Southwest from Philly and back on Airtran. At least I should be able to get an A boarding pass because I can check in from home. I don't think we will have problems getting two seats together on Airtran coming home, probably won't check in until the airport for that flight. This is our first time on Southwest so I am anxious to see how they are. We were pleased with Airtran on our June trip, and both airlines have competitive fares out of Philly.
