Just made first DVC resort reservation! SSR Question

I used DVC points last year for DLH, but I just made a 9 night reservation for December in a 2BR at SSR. This is going to be an awesome vacation!

Quick question: I asked for a request to be noted for a 1) dedicated 2BR and 2) close to the carriage house

I'm not sure if there was a miscomunication regarding the dedicated 2BR as she immediately respond "oh, this is a dedicated 2BR". I assume she has no way of knowing which unit I would be in and I assume there are both dedicated and lockoff (1 BR plus studio) units used for 2BR reservations. Did she misunderstand or am I confused.

I'm hoping to switch the entire stay over to OKW at 7 months in order to extened the trip 2 days with the same amount of points so hopefully it won't matter too much.

Unless you request otherwise, the dedicated 2BR's will be assigned first to allow for the others to be used as 1BR's or studios.

Dedicated 2-Bdr is a booking category, not a preference. It will be noted on your reservation confirmation. They don't know which room you'll be in, but they do know which room type.

Having an 11-month "back-up" reservation at your home resort is exactly the way to do things. But at the 7-month point, you won't technically be "switching" the resort on your reservation, you'll be canceling one reservation and making another. At the seven month point, you'll have to tell them exactly what you want (dedicated, lock-off, or no preference).

Yep. Your're right. somehow I didn't realize that dedicated was an actual booking category. That's what I have reserved so that's good. is that a booking category at all the resorts (which have that room type)?
