I will probably not get back to WDW for a long time after this trip. I have always wanted to see inside TOT but have been afraid of the big drop - I know, I am a big chicken :sad2: I find BTTMR pretty tame, I can do Splash Mtn but how bad is that drop? How many times do they drop you? I have been told that there is a regular elevator down for wimps like me, but do you really get to see everything?? Please help me out here.

Now, I would like to try EE also. I find Space Mtn to be a bit too much. How do you think I would make out on this? I hear it is long. I have already decided that RRC is too scary. I do love Test track, though. And to think when I was a kid I would go on anything!! Thanks so much. I will try to put on a brave face! :grouphug: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

If you go on TOT and chicken out at the end, you will get to see everything but the ride itself. The elevator is right before you get on. So you would get to see the lobby and the preshow.

I actually think EE is more tame than Space Mountain. I think what makes Space scary is that it is in the dark. EE goes backwards, and there is a decent drop, but it isn't too bad. I think it feels very short also! If you don't want to do it, don't feel bad about that, people have their limitations. But if you can get the courage to do them, I say go for it! Good luck!

Congrats on your graduation Princess22! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I really want to go on these rides and I know I will kick myself if I don't. When you said that all you miss is the ride if you use the regular elevator - do you mean that you just miss the drop? Perhaps I should try that first and work myself up. LOL :goodvibes There is more than one way to view the decent drop at EE - most people decent= good me decent = probably scary
I think I can do this!! :simba: :tigger: :figment: :goofy:

Thanks for the congrats!

I think you should suck it up and go for it! Worst case scenario, you don't like it, so you close your eyes and scream your head off for a minute and a half. then you get off, say you've been on it, and never go on it again! I think everything is worth a try!

Yes, Princess, you are right. I mean, worse case scenario, it is only 3 or so minutes. Heck, I have given birth 3 times, certainly I can do this. LOL :rotfl2:

So what part of EE goes backwards? DH is dying to ride it but does not care for backwards things.. So what is that part like?

Hi Amanda, if you take a look at MouseTimes.com you can play the video of the EE ride. Hope this helps

I would give you advice to just try. Unless you have a condition, it won't hurt to do it once! They drop you random amounts of times since these days it is a random ride. However it is all worth it because there are the most absolutly amazing special effects in this ride. It is really an experience! :thumbsup2

Ok, I have only given birth twice (c-sections), but I will have to remember this. I am such a chicken about heights and some of the rides. I guess I will just have to suck it up.

I guess you would say the middle part of the ride goes backwards. I tried this ride once and that will be the last time I go on it! I hate going backwards and I didn't realize how far and how fast EE goes backwards. It took me a good 2-3 hours to recover.

Now, I must say, it was really hot, around mid 90's and I was starting to come down with a cold. So, I'm not sure if it was the motion of EE that got to me or the heat and coming down a with a cold. He could always try it once :)

As was mentioned, each of these rides is perfectly safe, and since it is just 2-3 minutes out of your life, just go for it! Especially, if you have no problem on BTMMR.

The chicken elevator at Tower is before you get on the ride. So you miss the ride.

I'm not a roller coaster lover, and DH and I tried EE twice this past Saturday. It affected him in the head, a bit achy, and I felt it in the pit of my stomach. I definitely would go on it again, but it's not anywhere near the list of my favorite rides at WDW. (Splash Mountain is my favorite.) The themeing is excellent.

When we went on it for the second time, it was to try to "enjoy" the ride now that we knew what to expect. I was sad to realize that it wasn't any sort of "fun" for me.

Lots of EE is in the dark, or it seemed dark to me.

I say go for it! You only live once!

We rode EE twice in a row last week, and loved it. It's really pretty tame. I find Space Mountain great fun, but a rough ride. TOT is my absolute favorite ... the whole experience is not to be missed. RNR is a blast too - you'll be addicted once you try it. Have fun!! :)

To give you an idea, the big drop on Splash Mountain is listed as 52 feet. The largest drop on EE is 80 feet. So it's not all that much bigger, and just like on Splash, the drop is over in seconds.

As for Tower of Terror, some of the falls are pretty intense. It's hard to say whether you should go on it on not. Only you know how scared you are. I think everyone is scared of it before they go on it for the first time. I sure was, but now I'm addicted! If you do decide to brave it, here's a few tips. Make sure the seat belt is strapped very close to your body. This will eliminate the feeling leaving your seat (Many people like that feeling and leave some space there - I'm not one of those people!). Also, get a good grip on the hand bars in between the seat. That makes me feel so secure. Lastly, scream! It may sound funny, but it really will elimate the feeling of dropping in your stomach. If you prefer, inhale on the way up and exhale strongly as the elevator drops. It has the same effect.

Good Luck!

Wow, Skwinkles, those are great tips. I am going to print out your email and take it with me. I know I will regret it if I do not try ToT so I am going to try all of your tips. And don't worry about hanging onto the handles. My knuckles will be white I will be hanging on so tight. I am really intrigued by this ride because when I was a kid my bedtime was right when Twilight Zone started and I could hear the music from my bed. When I finally got to stay up later, they had taken it off the air!! :sad2:

As for EE, I am definately giving this a try.   If anyone hears really loud screaming, that is me. LOL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a very skinny tall 8 year old daughter- who first rode TOT when she was 5. She begged to go on. She was crying to go on. So she went on and LOVED it. The funny part is that when we went back to MGM later in the trip we were on the tram and there was a large adult male sitting in front of us being teased by his family because he wouldn't go on TOT. You can imagine the suffering he endured the rest of the day when my little girl piped up that she can't wait to go on again. He didn't believe her so he followed us over to the ride and then he went on with her. :rotfl2: It was so funny and a special memory for her.
