We have friends who are going to stay on property April 7th & 8th before we all head out on the Disney Wonder on the 9th. As a rule I stay as far away from the parks as possible during Easter week, but she keeps asking us how bad it will be. Has anyone gone to the parks during this time (a few days before Easter)? I'm hoping it's a little lighter those 2 days than it will be on Good Friday and going forward through the week following Easter Sunday. They have a 2 year old, so they will only be going to MK and perhaps Epcot.

Everyday leading up to easter gets gradually more crowded. So Tuesday and Wednesday will be lighter than Good Friday, but it's still VERY crowded. MK is probably the worst especially around the main hub, but it's managable just go expecting some longer waits. Have fun on your cruise!!!!

The UG site is actually predicting higher crowd levels for the week before Easter than the week after. The 2 weeks surrounding Easter are among the busiest of the entire year at WDW. Prepare for BIG crowds.

We go almost every year the week before EASter-many years, MK closes for capacity by 11 AM on at least 2 days the week before EAster. There are mostly Spring breakers at WDW for the entire week --so Tues and Wed will be packed. They should get to MK VERY early, get in line for Dumbo right away and send one parent to get FP for a ride nearby (maybe Peter Pan or Mickey Phil for that age) and then get a FP when that one comes due--they can get 3 FP by noon that way---throw in It's a Small World, lunch and the parade, and that's a good day for a 2 yr old. But, they HAVE to make a plan. I took my 3 yr old the Tues before Easter with out a clue and it was awful--next year---with a simple plan like above, it made all the difference! Also, since they are onsite, MK will open for 8 AM EVERYDAY for EMH---if they can get there by 8, that will also help A LOT.

I don't think there is such a thing as the crowds being "lighter" that week.

I'm almost dreading our trip! I'm a teacher and it's our spring break so it was our only chance. It's our girls first trip - they are 3 and 20 months - so I'm thinking we'll be doing lots of early mornings in the parks and then afternoons at the resort and try to catch all of the evening entertainments at least once. I'm particularly concerned about Fantasmic. I would skip it this trip but my oldest loves the villians - I know, I know, I am a little worried. ;)

We've always gotten to the parks at opening and been fine, but I'm kind of worried about this trip.

If MK closes at capacity in the morning on a day where it has evening EMH, will they let onsite guests back in that evening for the EMH?

except for NYE, 4th July, etc., even if MK closes during mid-morning, it usually reopens later in the day, and certainly by 7 PM or so---however, during peak times, the PM EMH are VERY crowded, with ride lines still very long until 11 PM or later.
With that said, you CAN still have a great time. We go almost every Easter and have a blast (and keep coming back). We never wait more than 30-40 minutes for anything--now that might mean we have to skip a ride--but it's not worth it to us to wait 1+ hours for a 3 minute ride.
Just try to get there early, get FP, ride key rides in the AM, and leave the afternoon and evening to walk around, shop, eat, go to shows that have large capacities. Elaine
