I have all of our ADRs ready for our Sept. visit, however I am troubled with a dinner ressie @ H&V due to some of posts. Is there anything good about this place? Can it really be that bad? :sad2: Thanks for your help!

Hollywood and Vine is not bad. We ate there in 2003 and really enjoyed it. It was pretty much a demand from my kids that we go back again when we're there this year. It you're not into buffets you may not like it. I've seen plenty of posts of folks that have enjoyed H&V. We did.

We've had lunch here a few times during our past few visits and it was pretty good. DD still likes the Playhouse Disney characters so that makes it fun. Of course, there are no characters at dinner but the food is similar. I have no complaints. I do prefer CP as far as buffets go but that's in a different park all together. But, as far as sit downs in MGM goes H&V is fine.

we LOVE H&V!

when we took a family of newbies w/us we dined at lecellier, chef mickeys and a few of the other "popular" places (including CRT!) and H&V was voted best meal by 6 out of 8 of us!

We ate there last summer around 6 p.m. and it was really busy and quite noisy. The food was fine, the selection was pretty decent and there were some items that we thought were pretty good, my son liked the spaghetti and meatballs but said the mac/cheese was really mushy. The sliced beef (was it prime rib?) was a bit on the tough side but I liked the spoon cornbread (?) a lot! There were some other items I liked that I cannot recall at this point. My DH said the food was okay but nothing special.

Just know that it can get busy and noisy since this is a buffet. And just don't have high expectations, it's an okay meal and you should be fine.

We ate there in '06: 2 teens and 2 adults. No complaints. The teens really enjoyed. A bit noisy, but the food was good.

We went for breakfast and it was great! best Character meal ever! They really do PLAY with your kids. The food was really good too. Wonderful scrambled eggs. I would go for breakfast. Actually I am going for breakfast on our Sept trip. I want to see my DD dancing with JoJo and June

Thanks to all who took the time to share their own experiences at H&V.
I'm still on the fence on this one, but as it turns out you just can't seem to get many ressies for my 9/21 - 9/30 stay at this point. Can it really be that busy? I tend to think many people are double or triple booking ressies. :sad2:

Nobody is double-booking because it is WDW's policy. The reason it is so booked is because of the free dining package.

PS: My 600th post since yesterday's "500th" anniversary!

Yes, and the last 2 times we went to H&V during free dining for FDP we've had to wait at least 20 - 30 min for our ADR times.. hate that..

2 years ago - we loved it - we eat our weight in shrimp tho - and dd loved the candy for the ice cream sundaes..

last year, not so much - shrimp and beef still ok, but the desserts were horrible, no candy to add on to make sundaes...

yet, each time we've been there, we've had the BEST service EVER!! cudos to the CM's!!

I think it would be pretty hard to get away with double or triple booking. We have 6 in our party next September. We have one night when my in-laws want to dine at Chefs de France, but the rest of us want to eat at Le Cellier. It took quite a bit to override the computer as we were not doublebooking, juts splitting up the computer, but it still tripped their system into thinking we were trying to double book.

I'm sorry to be the one to point this out, but DIS podcast celebrity Kevin even mentioned in this week's podcast, that this IS happening and said he knew of some one who had more than 20 ARDs for four days using different names. Doesn't really sound that hard to do. I just hope that the folks who are double, triple, and quadruple booking take the time to cancel when they finally make up their minds. ;)

We've done the Fantasmic package there twice and didn't really enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for the job, but found the buffet selection more average than any others we've eaten at at WDW. It was just okay and we felt quite rushed.

Won't waste a TS credit on it this time.

like i said above H&V was the hands' down fave meal at wdw in jan '06... we've also dined there at least three other times and find it to be above average... i'd go back again in a heartbeat!

as far as dbl booking adrs... i'm going to guess it's quite common... but i doubt the restaurants suffer too much from it 'cause there are always walk ups to take the no shows place!

I just don't know how the opinions vary SOOOO much with H&V. We've been there for the last three years and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It definitely is loud but we think the food is fabulous!
Have fun!

we have been there twice and found it an OK place to eat to get the fantasmic package in the summer, but thats about all.

It was an typical buffet. Both times our service was pretty bad both with and without the DDP.

I would use it again for the fantasmic package, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

just returned from Disney last night LATE.........and we ate at H&V Wednesday evening and we had a great time......the food was great and hot....Our server was Mike and he announced to the whole crowd there that my Sister in Law was EXPERIENCING A BIG BIRTHDAY.......they all yelled Happy Birthday Joyce and she had a cup cake and a card.........Fantastic time

Always thought H & V was quite good For What it IS. It's not suppossed to be gourmet food, it's a buffet at a very busy theme park. Haven't been since it's turned into a character Dinner-don't know if that would make a difference. Did feel a little rushed there but again I didn't walk in there expecting to have a totally relaxed romantic evening! :rotfl: Overall, I DO recommend it, my kids love the ice cream bar too.

Well, it's not BOMA, but it was OK. DS liked it - but we did have to wait probably 30 min. for our ressies for the Fantasmic package. I think we liked it better than Mama Melrose's tho...felt like a better deal for the money spent.
