A quick Dining review:
Every restaurant wonderful, great well prepared food, costs as expected and very reasonable I thought. Next time Dining Plan would work for us (we thought as non-meat eaters it wouldn't) All ADR except where noted:
1 Tusker - yum! esp. smoked salmon galore! Side dishes, salads, drinks all great!
2 Victoria Falls - our favorite lounge - all to ourselves for drinks.
3 Boma - our favorite, shout out to Bhramin our server for bringing me a birthday surprise dessert. Salmon wonderful, soups, sides, desserts. Great service, we actually met and spoke to the chefs behind the station and had such a great time.
4 Yak and Yeti - not good reviews from the boards but actually the best meal I had there. Walked up, no ADR. Asked for and was seated upstairs at a great window seat. Kudos to Chris for a fantasic Thai meal and photo taken. He closed the blinds to get a better shot! Very Thai, very spectacular. Had Seared Ahi Tuna and PHO (noodle) soup.
Will always go there.
5 Rose and Crown - asked to be seated outside and were put at a terrible table inside. There were many, many empty tables outside so I asked if we could be moved. I was told we would be at which ever table came available. I asked our server why we couldn't go outside and she went to speak to the seating person and eventually we were given a table on the patio. The empty tables were never used? They were empty throughout the fireworks, restaurant was full? The food and service was great (after the seating part)
6 House of Blues Gospel Brunch - great show and food was wonderful! As it was my birthday month I was asked to go up onto the stage with others and back up the group performing! Wow, so much fun. Breakfast items, waffles, eggs lots of meat choices, catfish, grits, beans and rice etc. Beautiful desserts including banana bread pudding, fruit.
I can't really understand tipping 18% to someone for just taking away plates but we did give 15% anyway.
7 Seasons (at The Land) - we walked onto Soarin' (9pm) then stopped for a meal at this great CS. Recommended! Lots of fresh choices, wine, beer. Good for veggies, vegans and fish/veggie eaters like us.
8 Maya Grill (CSR) Our only meal at our resort. Great server, had very nice recommended wine, special seafood pasta dish and appetizer. Great experience, very nice restaurant. Very quiet, empty. Great view of lake. Worth every penny.
9 Crystal Palace - saved for last because a wonderful character breakfast spoiled (only for a moment) by a CM. After I put down my credit card the server Justin came back and demanded that I sign my card as " credit card fraud is very serious" He also demanded ID ( I thought for a birthday surprise
), I told him I would be happy to pay with cash but that I had already used my card many times and you could still see the (very) faded signature. I was red and embarassed and flustered. Afterwards I wished that I had pointed out that I attached the credit card to my room card so I could have used that (and CSR didn't suggest that I may have stolen it!) and also that the trip was paid for using a credit card over the internet (no signature req'd!) Anyway the meal was great and the slight was quickly, but not completely, forgotten. And on my birthday too!
Thats all-no complaints what so ever. Still I don't understand tipping at a buffet more than 10% for bussing tables and bringing drinks but I gave 15-20% to be a good guest, everyone was very nice and good at their jobs
(resolved minor issues)and that means alot to me.
