So I am turning 40 next month. I know I am getting older and have just learned to deal. Does not bother me when I get carded at a club, but I went to the health food store today to pick up something for my mom. The guy behind the counter who looked like a twelve year old, told me, "If you come back Friday to buy it for your mom, I will give you the senior discount"
Now that just stung...now I do feel old :rotfl:

Sorry I must be getting old I wrote it wrong, that is what I get for trying to type and play with my kids at the same time I should have said, Does not bother me that I doo not get carded at clubs anymore. And, I never mentioned to the clerk that I was buying it for my mom...it is something my mom and hubby both use. He actually said, "If you come back Friday to buy it, I will give you the senior discount"

I was not really upset by it, but more like...do I really look that old

Oh no! :scared1: Did you mention you were purchasing it for your mom? I bet he just meant if you get her stuff again, he would give you HER senior discount! I'm sure he was just trying to help......still makes you want to slap the little sucker upside the head though doesn't it?! :lmao:

Sorry - I don't get it. You get carded at clubs - meaning you don't look like you're even 21?
And if the clerk knew you were buying for your Mom, was he offering the discount becuase she would be eligible for a Senior Discount?

I'm confused too. If you're 40 your mother probably qualifies for the senior discount. Sounds like the clerk was being helpful.:confused3

Ummm...wait until you are called "Ma'am" by everyone in every store!

And BTW, what's wrong with being "old"? It sure beats the alternative! :)

I took it as the clerk being helpful, that since your Mom would qualify for the senior discount he would give it to you because you are buying the item(s)for her. Maybe I'm wrong? :scratchin

we all have those "senior" moments. LOL

I got my first senior discount when I was still in my 40s:laughing: I used to take my mother out to eat (and she was 40 when I was born) and one time I noticed on the bill that we both got the senior discount:eek: I always wondered if they thought I qualified, or if they were just not careful when totaling the bill.

I'm still not old enough to qualify for the discounts, but I must admit the idea of something costing a little less has a certain charm to it.;)

Thank Gosh!! My biggest problem now is not re-reading what I write and sounding stupid :scratchin is there a pill for that!?:joker:

I am just fine with not getting a senior discount and paying regular price...well that is unless they want to give me a senior discount for a new Honda Odyssey

i am also an older mom (i'm 46.) i picked ds4 up from preschool at noon today, and took him to get a haircut. after that we went to the liquor store next door to get some tequila. the store wasn't busy at all, and when i went up to the counter for our purchase, the chatty old bat behind the counter said, "oh, babysitting today?"

i'm sure i blushed, and muttered, "nooooo", paid and got the heck outta there. guess it's time to get in for my hair coloring appointment! :rotfl:

Oh that is just wrong!!!!!! :lmao:

I have a friend that is 45 but his hair has been gray as long as I have known him, almost 14 years. He recently noticed that he gets a senior discount at some restaurants, they don't ask, he just notices it on his receipt :lmao:

Apparently I look young for my age, I am 35. People were always asking if my mom was my grandmother, she did not like that one bit! The above mentioned friend and his wife went with me in November to pick up my puppy and the breeder asked if they were my parents, his wife is only 7 years older than me and not does not have gray hair, I was kind enough not to mention this to them :lmao: Also when we were on our cruise this past summer my best friend who is 6 months younger than I am and her 16 year old son went with my husband and I to take some pictures and the photographer thought my husband and best friend were our parents, OMG that was so funny!

Last month we were at my husband's company holiday party. It was a huge event in San Francisco. Before entering, you had to stop at one of many check-in stations to be checked off the list and get a wristband if you were eligible to drink. This is a pretty young company. My husband has been there for 21 years and is one of the older employees.

So everyone in line in front of us was getting carded before getting their wristbands. The youngster behind the desk check off our names and then held out the wristbands to put on us. I said (jokingly), "What, you're not even going to card us?" He said, "You guys look, um, distinguished." My husband had just turned 47 and I was less than a month away from turning 44. I guess I should be glad we at least look like we're over 21!
